Some people agree with what Islamic state have to say. What right does anyone have to tell them they can't read those publications?

Great sudoku as well.

WTF are you on about Webbo? The DM is owned by a multi-billionaire, which peddles hate. We'll all be dead before they go out of business. Why are you assuming this some sort of campaign against the readers?

In your opinion it peddles hate. In my opinion the Mirror peddles hate. It wasn't that long ago that the Guardian were selling Tee shirts with "The Tories Are Vermin" written on the front, but I suppose that's okay because it's the right sort of hate? This is just more illiberal bullshit.

There's a difference between saying murder all infidels and Jeremy Corbyn is pathetic. If the sort of thing the Mail says frightens you that much you really need to get out more.

Are you ****ing serious Webbo, or are you on the troll? If you genuinely are saying objectively that front page headlines (just alone) don't incite hatred or incite such in the Sun & the DM in any shape or form, then you can't be taken seriously. No one is saying that the other papers don't have agendas. The campaign is hate. Please provide an image of a hateful campaign in the Mirror for example. I know for a fact, I could post at least 100 front page headlines from the Sun or DM that could be used as examples of inciting hate in collective form.

Would you be willing to stop shopping at Sainsbury's over this?

You're biased, you think incites hate because you disagree with it. Everything the Tories do according to the left wing press is done for spite, there's no attempt to consider the real motives.

Benefit changes, all because the tories hate poor people.

Boundary changes, the tories are gerrymandering to steal the next election.

You consider that fair comment because it matches your prejudice All it is is stirring up idiots but I'm not trying to stop it. If you don't believe in freedom of speech for people whose views you hate you don't believe in free speech at all.

What about branding people trying to uphold our political system "enemies of the people"? A bit past the point of common decency for me that one

The Mail, Express and Sun are absolutely awful and should rightly fvck off. I despair at anyone that defends them.

I have absolutely no problem with there being a right wing press or newspapers I disagree with.

But some of what we publish in this country is absolutely vile. It's not just the tabloids mind, the vile dross they push in "gossip" magazines and the equally awful muck you find in "blokes" mags are just as shit and just as responsible for turning the population in to blithering idiots.

Well that's the same as telling people to blow themselves up in night clubs.

Why should judges be immune to criticism?

Do you think they should be forced out of business?

FFS. I am not suggesting that people should not hate. They can hate to their hearts ****ing content, and buy papers or media that supplements that hate or help them justify that hate with propaganda and twisted facts. That's up to themselves. Free press, free choice. I couldn't give one. But if companies that want to profiteer off the back of this, this campaign is aiming to make them consider their position.

Like I said, the DM and Sun won't go out of business because of this.

People should be allowed to hate but supermarkets shouldn't allowed to advertise in the Daily Mail?

Hypothetically though, if that was on the cards would you be OK with that?

I can normally sympathise with you on the hard-left in Unis trying to censor speakers and what not, but surely the buzzwords the Daily Mail and The Sun scream 'hatred'? The Telegraph is harsh as it's just a right-wing perspective but the DM and Sun is the kind of anti-intellectual, populist bollocks that I despise. All papers have an agenda, but if you set out with no room for argument or critical thinking then you should be prepared for a section of society to oppose you.

Then don't buy those papers.

Where does this campaign state that they shouldn't? It's up to them. But given as stated they'd be profiteering and supporting a rag financially that has a moralistically dubious agenda(s), then they should reconsider. That goes for all media, not just the ones mentioned. They are the well known perpetuators of hate campaigns.

I dont, but people have as much right to lobby companies about the DM and Sun as the Sun and DM have to spew absolute shite

They're not going to be forced out of business by a few people pressuring their advertisers though are they?

If advertisers don't think it's in their commercial interests to be linked with a certain publication any further, that'll be their decision to make. Most will probably continue to provide their business, and a few won't. Most people will continue to buy the products of those who advertise in those papers, and a few won't.

It really does seem that a few people are on a mission to view anything "the left" (by which we all really mean a tiny minority of people with left-of-centre views) do as a massive threat to freedom of speech. If that ever becomes the case, I'll be shouting them down with you. That's not the case here.

They won't go out of business, and if they did it would be their own fault. They're free to publish whatever they want. If companies stop advertising in them because of the disgusting shite they peddle perhaps they might reconsider their agenda, perhaps they won't.

Personally, I think Lego have been very clever getting on this first. Great marketing from them looking at the reaction it has got.

I despair at the Daily Mail. I work in an office where nearly everyone browses the Mail website at lunchtime. Personally I'd rather chop my own bollocks off than even entertain the idea of looking at their website and adding to their click traffic (or whatever it is called). My parents used to read the mail and they became convinced that every 15 year old in the country was on drugs and hung around street corners waiting to mug them. Now it is "immigrants". The DM (and others) love to create division - it is their aim.

I was also the only one in my office to vote "Remain"....

The sidebar on the DM is literally just women after women... I've just visited their site after your post and even the winner of the GBBO "cuts a chic figure in elegant dress".

The Daily Mail and The Sun in particular can fvck off. They do spread hate. DM actually printed on their front page "here are 15 foreign drivers caught on their phone" as if no British person has ever done it. And don't even get me started on The Sun.

People are free to buy or not buy these papers. Companies should be free to advertise or not advertise in them depending on how it affects their bottom line. Both are and should be subject to public opinion.

Newspapers are increasingly irrelevant, sales are on the decline, without advertising they will go out of business so to try to stop advertising you are trying to put them out of business. If these people were trying to stop the Mirror too you could argue they were trying to stop tabloid excesses but they're not. It's blatantly obvious what they're trying to do. How  anyone can pretend differently is beyond me.
