The CAF Awards is an awards evening held to honour the best African association football players. It is conferred by the Confederation of African Football

Basically "Best African Player of 2016" but this is an award given by the CAF instead of the BBC one he got last month

Glo refers to Globacom Limited (or GLO) a Nigerian multinational telecommunications company that sponsors the event

I'm starting to wonder if Mahrez will get his big dream move now. He was truly sensational last year, but we haven't seen any of that so far this season, and not sure which of the "Big" clubs would be willing to splash out a big transfer fee plus higher wages than 100k for him, unless he drastically improves in the second half of the season.

It could work in our favour, as we could get to keep him another season or two, although he may struggle to even get in our team if his poor performances continue.

There are still teams that'd want him, it might push the price down a bit though.

He's in good company. Previous winners include world class players like Eto, Drogba, Yaya Toure, Aubameyang in the last decade.

2016 had been great Mahrez individually.

Which ones do you think? He was valued around 40million after last season, but although we would still want that, not sure any team would pay that now, especially if they have had scouts watching him this season. There is no point him moving to a club outside the top 5 in the Prem and top 2 or 3 of the other european leagues, and I am not sure which of those would be that interested now. PSG maybe?!

If he regains some of the form again, then I can see the bigger clubs being interested, but if he continues the way he is, I just can't see him being of interest to clubs like Man U, Arsenal and co.

I don't know but this season's form wouldn't put teams off. He'd get more room to play in a team with stars in every position. I could see Arsenal or Man City being possibilities or a top French,Italian or Spanish side being interested too.

Never heard of it. Can't be worth much.

Can't see him going to France, he hasn't quite hidden his dislike of the place.

With his wife and now 2 kids settled here, he would much prefer another PL team, unless Barca/RM came in, he admitted so himself.

I think he will leave for Arsenal, they had concrete interest in summer and spoke to him, and are struggling to get Ozil/Sanchez to extend their contracts. I don't think they would be put off by this season's form. Plus if the ITKs are to be believed, he already has some sort of agreement to leave here in summer, and I don't think any other club apart from Arsenal has been seriously in for him.

Top scouts, agents and clubs, see a bit further than most. Mahrez doesnt lose his talent overnight, they see the lack of class around him.

They know any top team, have other would-be teammates, who also have to be covered, opponents cant afford to have 2-3 players

Marshalling his everymove. He will find how to use other spaces that will open up for him..

I still hope of course that city can find and build on new better Quality players, that will allow Mahrez, Slimani, Gray, Vardy express

their real potential, that see Musa, Mendy, Amartey, mature into quality investments...

Mahrez is not the problem...other than he has lost confidence...He has class and quality Which we will see come to the fore again,

either at KP, or in another clubs colours.

You could well be right. I know that the rumour is, that he would give us one more season and then be given his "big" move in the summer, so be interesting to see where he ends up and how much we can get for him, if big clubs do come knocking.

New luminous coffee product allowing you to sup a latte while drawing attention to yourself. Those coffee wxxkers get everywhere.

First they're sponsoring African football awards, next thing it'll be the Flask Army. Useful for pretentious road workers on night shift, I suppose.

But I keep being told that Nigeria didn't qualify?

I know I am not the only one that thinks mahrez is now a better player than last season. He fixed two of his problems as  a player and as a teammate. He is now a far better defender than last season. And, he doesn't seem to be pushed over the ball that much compared to last season. I think he will go to arsenal. I feel özil will leave and mahez with Sanchez gonna be the new dynamic duo.

Wenger did not sign Draxler..that is 30m he has in the bank to spend on another player?   I think Mahrez will join Arsenal, if there are no offers from Real/Barcelona.  Sanchez is more likely to leave than Ozil.  There are more clubs chasing strikers than there are top strikers around at the moment.  I don't think the decision to sign Mahrez is going to depend on whether Ozil stays or leaves.  Mahrez is easily an improvement on Walcott.  But what I do hope is that there is an improvement in form because it would be nice to bank 40m (or more with add on), rather than 30m

Sanchez and Ozil will leave Arsenal. Why would he want to? I think he'll go Chelsea.

Arsenal got numerous attacking players and wide forwards. They don't need another one.

I can see him replacing Pedro at Chelsea.

Actually, quiet the opposite. Any professional manager knows that our system and squad will never offer to a flair player to shine, period.

First of all, our opponents have most of the time more than 65% of possession, since we never get a hold of the ball we resort to hoofing it forward like headless chickens.

Secondly, even though he finds himself with the mandatory 3 opponents closing him down, his team-mates never give him any options to take advantage of the spaces created around by this special treatment.

In a team of higher caliber Mahrez would thrive, he is your typical flair player that will suits any possession-footy team .
