twister Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 outsider here again. I think while your not as bad as a few months ago, it still does not seem right, claudio changes the line up to often and the players seem uneasy because of it. with mahrez out I thought you were crying out for gray to worry them with his pace instead you tried to flood midfield but ended up losing the early goal and looking mishapen and poor just my view though. its the games against the bottom half that matter now, if you stay up nobody will care about the season and you can move on
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Indeed. I have no idea how Claudio comes to his tactical decisions this season. As inspired as his decisions were last season, they appear (results wise) totally inept this season.
Tuna Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Claudio seems to have forgotten why we won the title last season. One of the main reasons was continuity in team selections. Although there have been a few injuries, there has been far too much tinkering whilst we've gone from an exciting team full of pace and pressing to a hopeless hoofball outfit who get about 25% possession each game. We can't string a pass together, can't create chances, can't defend, It's absolutely embarrassing and our current position in the table is shameful.

The guy just rolled with what he had, he said it himself. Now he's got a choice he's back to the tinkerman

Beechey Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Why did we just not play a 4-3-3 with Mendy, Drinky and Ndidi in midfield with Gray and Albrighton flanking Musa or Vardy again?

I think we have to play 4-3-3 going forward, probably with Vardy, bringing Musa on when needs must.

I also think he really didn't want to drop fuchs or Chilwell so shoehorned two left backs into the starting eleven. But whatevs was always going to be tough. I thought we played well after ten minutes til half time!
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Strange line up. It was if he didn't know who to play out of Chilwell or Fuchs so tried to play both. Strange subs and ended up having our new midfielder at centre half. Much work to be done.
dedlock Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 The change didn't work. We have not been tight at the back this season but why tinker? Simpson has looked more solid than his defensive colleagues. Back to a back 4 please,we finally have midfield options.
foxtillidrop Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 I agree there has been too much tinkering this season whether through injury, suspension, AFCON and/or choices of the manager. A consistent team sheet has underpinned our success in recent years, even in the championship winning season. I'm sure the BBC East Mids Natalie Jackson did a behind the scenes tour of our sports science department in the Championship days and our sports scientists said it themselves - that a consistent team sheet was key for us getting out of the Championship. The Prem winning side was consistent as well.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 15 January 2017 Posted 15 January 2017 In order for us to stay up (and hopefully move up the table) we need to play to our strengths and not put round pegs in square holes. Revert back to a back 4. Have Ndidi and mendy shielding to allow fullbacks to push on and allow drinky to pull the strings. play 2 from mahrez, gray and Musa wide. Vardy cannot play on his own. Play Okazaki there until slimani returns. having Vardy and Albrighton on the bench gives us the option of reverting to 4-4-2 if needed.
dayday Posted 15 January 2017 Posted 15 January 2017 I think it has got to the point that Ranieri hasn't got a clue what to do . Recruitment has been baffling, for ever changing the side, players out of position. Its got to the point where the team itself doesn't know what there roles are.
Chico1958 Posted 15 January 2017 Posted 15 January 2017 Just out of interest I've just been reading an interview that was done on one of the Chelsea sites It was with Zola and Jimmy Floyd, in it they were talking about when CR was at Chelsea Key Points: Took over an aging Team Started bringing in younger players Changed systems to see how players could adapt Started looking at the youth development Had "chats" with older players telling them that they wouldn't be playing so often Could be very straight with players about performance and future They said it not me " Left Jose the Team that went on to win the League " I'm not sure what site it was on as I picked it up on LCFC News Now but worh a read if anyone doubts Claudio's current performance. Although it does seem very similar to what is happening in the here and now. Posted this on another thread but like I said maybe it show's what CR is up to, sorryif you've read it
