Relegation release clauses?

Recommended Posts

Wonder if the likes of Vardy has a relegation release clause written into his current contract?..

Hopefully we can get rid and not pay his obscene salary if /when we go down?....

It's not going to make any difference. No-one will want to buy any of them either way.

Hopefully we can have a Chinese takeaway?

That's an idea put the whole club players and all up for sale to the Chinese league.Package deal 1 to 33 backroom manager physios ,Maybe special family deal £500 mil incl free delivery on a moped.

.Bargain.

Then we can start again

If a team that finishes 10 points ahead of the second place team one season can't finish 1 point ahead of the team finishing 18th the next, then all the players should be sacked.  Problem solved.

I would expect relegation wage decreases written into the contract but don't expect release clauses to be in unless they have a relevant release fee but with the way contracts are seemingly drawn up at the club I doubt anything exists

i wouldn't actually sell the majority of the squad, I wouldn't give them the easy way out option

If that's true the situation may not be terminal (from a financial survival POV). Presumably it means the likes of Vardy will be on pay of about 70k, so could probably be offloaded to reduce the wage bill further, along with Mahrez, probably Drinkwater and Schmeichel (not that I want them to go, just being realistic).

It would then be a matter of rebuilding from scratch. Unfortunately I also doubt whether we'd be able to hang onto the youngsters, Gray, Chilwell and Ndidi who would otherwise form a a good basis for such a rebuild.

The Times reporting relegation clauses of as much as 40% in an article today. If we are relegated there is little doubt in my mind that three or four major earners will go, and that will recoup a reasonably significant amount of cash. It's how we reinvest it that will be key. If we go down there will be no time for licking our wounds. The club will need to be decisive and have a clear set of realistic targets to sign. I just hope that work is underway already

It is my opinion that it is exactly the hungry youngsters we need to keep. Let the others go if they want. This season has proved that big wages, does not ensure performance on the pitch, if anything it has worked against us.
