Devonfox1884 Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 A mate of mine asked if I'd rather we: A. Won the league and got relagated this season or B. Finished 4th last season (champions league) and 6th this season (Europa league) I actually struggled to make a decision, but ultimately went for A.
whetstonefox Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 No matter how bad it may get in the next few years they'll never be able to take last season away from us, take the piss yes , we may be about to have a re run of 04-08 (worse case scenario) we may not. We can always bounce back but will be a bit gutted as I was hoping we'd establish ourselves as a top ten PL outfit who'd take the cups seriously.
DB11 Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 I wouldn't mind. Last season was the epitome of football for me
old koppite Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 Yes. Been a proud fan for 50 years and never believed we'd get close, let alone win the prem . I'm resigned to relegation now. So sad CR has become a laughing stock with so many of our fans, but I do agree with their reasons why. Just hope he shows the same dignity he displayed last season to resign if we're humiliated on Wednesday.

Top post and 100% agree with you.....it is extremely sad that it has come to this but I do wonder if Wednesday could be the catalyst for change. The club got things wrong on every level after the end of May last season and its easy in hindsight as very few clubs have ever had the sudden success we experienced. We can rebuild and the owners have showed they learn quickly but it will be such a shame that it may have to be done from the Championship.
sly1 Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 Sorry did we the league or was it a very BAD dream

No one really cares who comes fourth and it's soon forgotten but how many years will pass before another club outside the elite win the league. Since Blackburn won it 1994/95 only Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City had won it over the next 21 years and then we came along. Finishing 4th then 6th would have been a fantastic achievement but we actually won the fecking thing, utterly amazing when you consider: Tottenham 56 years and counting Liverpool 27 years and counting Arsenal 12 years and counting.

But no one can ever ever EVER take our premier league win away from us... Spot on mate totally agree. I have to put up with a couple of Liverpool fans at work they mock me for the way our season has gone my reply is cant recall Liverpool winning the PL

AyewJoking Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 all those weeks waiting for spursy and arsey to slip up im sure i made my peace with relegation this season if we could just win the league, we'd never get a better chance. we've enjoyed the plaudits, tv exposure, champions league, endless awards and bragging rights - albiet too brief #foxymoron?

justfoxes Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 I wouldn't have minded us going down after our historic win as we probably will never in some of our lifetimes do it again, bust as some have said it's the way this season is happening! i didn't expect us to go out and defend our title but I expected us to put up a bit of a fight grit and determination not roll over and let everyone walk over us !!
Legend_in_blue Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 I wouldn't view some of the players as legends either if they perform the ultimate embarrassment by getting us relegated and then clear off. Mahrez is top of that list.

I would have taken dropping down to League One if we were guaranteed the title. I'd take dropping down to League One for a Champions League trophy too. At the end of the day, surely the aim of football is to win things. You can't win anything better than a Premier League title or Champions League.

Spot on they did i was was one of them and I'll stick by that
Bunyip Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 I think a lot of people said it thinking it would be a safe bet we would be nowhere near the relegation zone this season. It's as mystifying this season as it was last season. one thing for sure, no other club of our size and stature will ever win the premiership again.
