Guest CityFan 06 Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 It's looking good, and not forgetting we still have Amartey, Mendy, King and James (on loan to Barnsley) also competing for the CM position. Good strength in depth.
Jay123 Posted 4 March 2017 Author Posted 4 March 2017 Yeah I agree finally loooking like our two first choice with good backup still think Mendy will come good and I also think amartey will be very good player
Thracian Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 There's more to come yet from today's central midfield pair but it's starting to look promising and particularly refreshing that N'didi's showing some enthusiasm for being an attacking threat as well as a defensive giant.
Lestoh Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 At this point I reckon King just accepts he wont play for ages now

I was waiting for it since Ndidi was signed. Looking forward to it.

TJB-fox Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 Although Ndidi didn't have his best game today he just makes amartey look so limited. Drinkwater coming into his own now, thought he was excellent today

Have away a foul for a yellow but thought it was a good one for the team. Ndidi wil get better and better that's for sure
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 Yes of course we are. Why do you think I've kept banging on about the central midfield? It's a very important part of any successful team. We finally seem to have got the best two. That said, we just look a different side right across the field. Sacking Ranieri should have come sooner.
foxes21 Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 our midfield options next season should be: drinkwater, ndidi & a new CM, with all three competing for a starting place. then king & james as back up, both of whom are very professional, good personalities to have around the squad & have enough about them to fill in for the odd injury or suspension.
sdb Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 Think Mendy could be a good like for like replacement for DD if ever needed. King if we need a man running from deep and Amartey or James if we go 4-5-1 backs to the wall. Nice set of options. Clearly the current starters are our best option.

WE don't really know about mendy - so I wouldn't go as far as you. King is way too light weight for the prem. You are right hat before afcon, amarty was looking at home as a defensive midfielder. I love James - buy I am not sure if he will cope with eh stresses of the prem (I hope so)... but if he does, the great thing about his game was his surging forward - not as a DM.... have you got them all mixed up?

I see Mendy as your archetypal DM. Runs round, tackles, snaps at heels, a nuisance. As a footballer though (passing, scoring, giving and going, etc etc) I think he's really limited. We need to push the boat out in the summer and sign that exceptional playmaker for our midfield to compliment Ndidi, Drinkwater and King. Silva would have done it tbf. I see this as crucial.

I think amaerty has legs... yes he was slow at first but by afcon he was looking useful. However, it depends on our CB recruitment in the summer what role we want him to address.

I agree with you. I think with Gaston Ramirez that Claudio was thinking the same thing, although I wonder what will happen with Shakespeare / the new manager if it's not him. Silva is the one that got away. We should have just bit the bullet and gone for him as the season could have been very different with him the team. That said we may not have ended up with Ndidi and he's going to be great.

I know the jury is out, hence the 'think' at the start, but he looks comfortable on the ball and has a good range of passing, thus is similar to Drinkwater. James, I don't see as a box to box midfielder after that injury (not that I said he was defensive minded anyway), but is calm and measured and would be good in a five when we need an extra body there. King is good enough for certain scenarios at this level, although I wouldn't want to rely on him week in week out.

I see him as a defender.

Hmmm maybe. You're not thinking of Kante are you?! From what I've seen I think Mendy's passing/composure has been the best bit of his game. Either way there's not been enough of it!

Vardinio'sCat Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 I'd like to see Mendy or Amartey (who was improving before AFCON) in the 'new' Leicester side, at some point, before we write them off. Ndidi is looking like the man at the moment anyway, even if he wasn't at his best today. Goals from midfield are so important.
