STUHILL Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Looking at their fixtures, I think Swansea could win 3 or 4, especially if they get Llorente back. That would take them to 37-40 points. We need 2 wins ideally to be comfortably on 42, but I suspect 39/40 may be enough. We are certainly not safe yet, as I expect Hull to pick up more points too.

Somehow i don't think swansea have that same quality. Thinking dont get it done. All teams from 18th up towards us, are capable of winning 3 of their remaing games. They are all on this season, have had good short runs. Until otherwise proven, we were the worse performers, until the last 5 games, that negative form could easily return.
Sunbury Fox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 The slight worry for me is the way the fixtures line up over the next 2 weeks. If we lose at Palace (which is quite possible if we play a weakened team or a first team exhausted from the CL game) then by the time we next play in the PL against Arsenal on 26 April, we could be much nearer the bottom 3, given the following fixtures: Stoke v Hull and Watford v Swansea on 15th Swansea v Stoke and Hull v Watford on 23rd. It's more than possible Hull and Swansea could both do very well in those games, which would leave us right in the mix with 2 more away games to come at Arsenal and West Brom before we play at home v Watford on 6 May. Palace beating Chelsea and Arsenal has definitely upped the pressure on us as looking at their run in beforehand I'd felt they'd really struggle to get many points, which would have provided extra insurance for us against good runs by Swansea and Hull. If the worst case scenario does happen over the next 2 weekends and the CL adventure is ended, we and the players could be on a massive downer again and under massive pressure to stay up. Suspect it will come down to needing to get 4 points v Watford and Bournemouth at home. But enough of my miserable pessimism! COYF!
st albans fox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Having seen the guys winning those six games with the intensity they showed (and no lack of quality) , do you seriously doubt their ability to pick up another three points this season ???
biggs Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 36 might be enough this year but expect us to be well into the 40's maybe even hit 50 by end of year

I'd be happy with another six points (1 win, 3 draws, 3 defeats) or 2 wins and 5 losses. It may depend on what happens in Europe - either way if we beat Atletico we will take focus off the league and if we lose that could have a negative effect. I think we could lose the next 5 and win the last 2 including City Away and Bournemouth at home and get 42 points, 3 clear of relegation. Sorted.

Alan lcfc Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 when we beat atletico, we get a week off before arsenal (a) midweek west brom (a) cl semi midweek Watford (h) cl semi midweek man c (a) spurs(h) would have to scheduled here midweek Bournemouth(h) this will be 8 games in 3 and a half weeks, arsenal away could be the one if we don't get anything at palace where we can seal safety, with the week off prior and arsenal having to play fa cup weekend before. confident we will get enough points, just gonna be a real tough run when we beat atletico
