I thought the gulf in class was most obvious in the middle of the park today - James did well for the first hour but didn't manage the ball well, Ndidi was disappointing, Okazaki in the 'ten' role failed to link midfield with attack and didn't have much of an impact. As for defence, if we consider Amartey a serious option as either RB or CB, we could well focus on the other position. It's also hard to imagine us dropping both Wes and Huth anytime soon in the centre, so we have to make sure we don't upset the apple cart too much. Simpson might also be vulnerable on the right if we're looking to bring in better ball-players. On the wing, if Gray and Mahrez both stay we have lots of options. If one leaves, you still have Musa as cover, and the possibility that we'll focus on developing Chilwell in a more advanced role. That'd fit the 'two per position' rule, so perhaps if we want to bring in width you could invest in an up-and-comer, rather than a guy who'd expect to be first team right away. If both leave, obviously, we'll need to act very quickly. I half-expected the Townsend rumour to gather pace more than it has.

(just joking) well if we do get 40mil bid for Vardy, he will be gone, same for drinky and Marhez. 27mil for Townsend then sell Slimani for 30 mil, gives the club a hell of a lot to buy I am sure targets they have in mind for each position. Not ideal in the last week of the window to have so many players who could go out, but it is a big possibility. A lot of wheeling and dealing going happen not matter what this week. Townsend purchase tells me that Marehz is gone and probably to Arsenal to replace Sanchez. Drinky to Chelsea unless they get Barkley first and vardy to either Everton or Chelsea seems now a real possibility. let's hope what ever happens the management can fill those players and extra additions like a CB and RB as well with quality.

The two signings are unrelated. Less likely to buy both Barkley and the ox. They need another holding midfielder.
