I've been saying it for a few weeks now, unless Drinkwater, Mahrez, Vardy or one of our key players leaves we won't bring anyone else in. We might harbour an interest in strengthening in an " ideal world " but we've not been actively pushing it the last few weeks. It's more of if someone becomes available then we might make a move than actively bidding. Even in defense there's no urgency to get more bodies in which I think could haunt us.

I disagree with the clubs mentality if this is the case, I think defence is urgent, maguire not trained due to a knock, hopefully just a knock, Morgan is past it, and injured, huth is injured and will be for sometime, benny isn't going to be given a go, a youth team player gets the nod over him.

The rest of the squad if they stay, your right, no rush to add, but Morgan and huth are towards the end of their careers, and Morgan especially seems to be collecting injuries, or not recovering quickly from them, which over the course of the season, could be a massive issue.

Lose maguire for Saturday, who would play centre half?, bearing in mind if Morgan plays he's not going to be 100%.

Shakespeare has mentioned on 2 or 3 occasions that at least one more is coming in.

Or is that just a press claim?

I've asked that question too. Nobody seems able to give a source of the "watch this space" quote.

Gibson will be pissed off seeing Harry jump above him England recognition,he will realise he needs to be in the Prem  (and partner Harry)

I gave the source the other day, it was Radio Leicester.

Most likely scenario for me is no outgoings, unless it's Musa / Mendy / Benny, and one in on loan at the last minute ala Molla Wague.

I wonder if the club is thinking about promoting some of the youths into the first team soon. At Cb Johnson had game time preseason, as did Moore and he has gone out on loan for half a year so might look at his development in January to see how he is getting on. Knight also came on against Sheffield and was tidy and made a great block to prevent a goal. What would be ideal for the club is to bring in one more Cb either this window or in January. Then next season be using some of the youths more often as backup rather then Huth and Morgan who will be another year older but still available in cacse the youngsters still aren't up to quality.

Might be strange but maybe Gibson coming in on loan? Someone in another thread said Gibson either wants Man City or he will stay at Boro, but surely he knows if he wants to be in the England squad he needs to be at a premier league club. If he joins us on loan then he will go back to Boro after the season ends but will have a greater chance of getting to the world cup with us for one season.

So you don't think we are going to make a big signing?

No, but my own opinion rather than anything I know.

I know there is a conscious decision to manage the squad and not upset too many regulars, signing a big name at this stage could have a knock on effect.

I've just been told Smalling is on.

But were you told by someone who is likely to know something?

TBH if we don't sign anyone else, we still look pretty good. Especially if no one leaves.

(I reserve the right to change my mind if we lose 5 games in a row :) )

tbf if Huth is fit, I'd be happy to sign a prospect, for next season.

If Morgan could shake his back injury, same. However it's unlikely he'll be able to and he'll be stuck with it for life

It would be a good time to go for him, just as a Leicester player is about to jump in front of him in the England queue.

I've got a very good feeling about Shakey, wouldn't be surprised if he became our greatest ever manager eventually. He's obviously a brilliant coach, maybe even world class. Tactically he must have learnt a lot in the title season and he would have learnt from Big Nige how to run a club to perfection. And he knows how to get the players fired up. He's got all the skills required to become a top class manager.

Agree with all that. A dumb decision imo to play Maguire the other night, your one and only fit first team centre half. What's Shakeys continued aversion to trying Armarty at centre half,  a position he played for Copenhagen and Ghana? Would certainly have been good enough against a poor Sheffield team, if not get rid, he's never going to be a Premiership mf or rb. Morgan, think the world of him, but whether because of previous injury or fitness,  currently he's a total liability and stinks the place out. Even Benny would be preferable. Fuchs is no centre half. We also badly need cover for Simpson.

The sale of Armarty (possibly), but certainly Ulloa, Musa and Mendy would address the issue if anyone would actually buy them.

I admire your optomism and loyalty. One would hope he doesn't try to emulate NPs tactical nous though or we'll be facing a great escape again. At least Ranieri would drop out of form players and not be stupidly loyal to any favourites. The next four games will show us what he's made of, not purely down to the results because it's a very difficult run, but down to his tactics and team selections. If he plays 442 all the way through with an unchanged team regardless of changing circumstances then it will be interesting to see what people's opinions are then.
