Two things:

1. Smalling tweeted this earlier,

doesn't look like he's preparing himself to leave to someone without Champions League football (this season…)

and

2. That group is so much easier than ours!!

Automated staged tweet from the club mate... speaking from experience

Weve recently started doing it with the players after games too... a bit cringe but gets views on the clubs social channels

Maguire has played on the left so far and done well so will have io see if he does come in if anything does change :)

Think he could be even better on the right side! But suppose we'll have to see

Can't see Smalling leaving Man U in this window. He will want to stay as they are on the up and Mourinho will want as big a squad as possible.

Gibson is the most realistic target I think. Just need to pay up and get it done.

Gibson is the better target imo.

Smalling is a left sided cb right? Yes, I am aware he is right footed.

Is it just me who finds it weird that CB's now have a side? A CB is a CB to me, it's not as if the strikers will stick to one side to make it easy for a defender to track him? :dunno:

It's all because if managers like Pep I'm afraid! Haha but in all seriousness even when I play I prefer the left to the right side... maybe doesn't apply to all people!

I think it would make a difference if we played a back three. If not, I'm with you.:)

it obviously makes a difference, on the left of the centre you're more likely to have to deal with things with your left foot because a lot of play comes in from wings. simples.

Of course they have a preferred side, however most decent central defenders can play either side.

Tackling and passing is much different from either side for a CB, especially if they are 'limited'.

Anyway, if Smalling is on the way in, great business.

I've got a very good feeling about Shakey, wouldn't be surprised if he became our greatest ever manager eventually. He's obviously a brilliant coach, maybe even world class. Tactically he must have learnt a lot in the title season and he would have learnt from Big Nige how to run a club to perfection. And he knows how to get the players fired up. He's got all the skills required to become a top class manager.

I've certainly been impressed with his in-match adjustments, that debacle at Arsenal being the exception. I think he has the ability to reach players, and has a vision for the club that has us more possession-oriented, more attacking, while maintaining the defensive tenacity that has been our hallmark the last couple seasons. If we do in fact get someone of Smalling's quality, we'll be a threat for the top-6.
