Diego Costa To Athletico Madrid

So Athletico Madrid are signing Costa despite the transfer window being shut. Can see them appealing to FIFA to get the transfer ratified so he can play for Madrid before January despite them being under a transfer embargo and the window being shut and FIFA approving it. Meanwhile we are getting nowhere with the Silva deal so far.

There is no way on earth that Diego Costa will be playing in an Atletico Madrid shirt before January.

Clearly the player was homesick for Spain and wanted to go back to Atletico but the way Conte has treated him was disgraceful!

As I said in the Silva thread, you can sign a footballer whenever you want. "Transfer Window" is actually a misnomer. It's really "Registration Window." 

 

Silva is a Leicester player, he's ours, we just registered him late. He's signed a contract that was due to start 31/8/17 or 1/9/17 and money was exchanged between clubs, that's a private piece of business that football clubs as organisations can do at any time and footballers as employees can do at any time. 

 

But the window to REGISTER a player isn't currently open, so we can't register Silva to play and Atleti can't register Costa to play. The difference is that they know this, so his contract will be due to start 1/1/17.
