please , owners , we want mahrez back , so give him a release clause In his contract , and fix it

Many sports experts and pundits have  urged lcfc to include a release clause in his contract ( a revisited one ) :  rob Dorset  James redknap  izzy Musset     Rob tanner   Robie savage Martin Keon

Disagree. If the club bows for this pressure it will never end. Let him "play" with U23 until his contract expires. He has let everyone down and deserves nothing at all. Wish it wasn´t so but this has gone way to far.

I may disagree with you about harsh punishment, i.e till thernd of  his contract

in my opinion mahrez has become deeply embedded in Leicester city history  and we cannot dismantling  him from it

for perspective

remember that window with him linked to several clubs, with the photos of vichai holding him by the ears (in LA and Stockholm) saying he wasn't for sale. he wanted to leave but was talked into staying to play the CL season with us. yes he signed the 100k contract but he was given the assurance that the club would accept a reasonable offer beyond last season. we would not countenance a release clause after the ngolo fiasco.  I guess the problem is what he considers reasonable and what we consider reasonable. his agent screwed up. no way should it have been left. it should have been clarified at the time via some kind of formula. an unwritten gentleman's agreement but one which had some substance to what constitutes a 'reasonable offer'. the current mess is a consequence of this but in reality, had we clarified the 'reasonable offer', man city would likely have met it last week.

anyway, onwards and upwards !!

If “The Sun” is the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s a dim light for a dimmer audience.  Right under the piece:

Any agreement on release clauses or anything else for the summer needs to come with a deadline.

This summer the transfer window closes August 9th, so if we say £75m and any deal needs to be agreed by August 1st. Nothing agreed by 1st August and he stays a Leicester player.

This.

No.

He's gone no matter what, be it in june or august. So fix the release clause search for a replacement (it already began and not only in this window) and put this saga to bed once and for all.

his contract was meant to end in the summer of 2017! he agreed to stay for the CL and he also agreed to sign a new deal to let the club get a fair sum of money for him instead of going on a free.

people will act like riyad is the devil and never did anything for the good of the club. he was naive to not enclude a release clause but that's his problem. forgot about the 2015 deal, my bad

if you can disallow the anger to cloud your judgement, you will understand why riyad is upset (but not training is not ok)

so we buy his replacement and no one comes up with the money by the end of the window ..... then what ???   if you buy his replacement first then all the buying clubs will wait until the last minute and offer you less than his release clause, knowing that you cannot hang onto him and have his replacement both in the same team !!!!!!!!

its reasonable to put a timescale on this such as aug 1st. then  we then have time to get his replacement in and the club we buy from have time to do the same etc etc

He wasn't naive not to ask for a release clause. I'm sure he actually probably did but we weren't doing them anymore after Kante. If the agreement is he can go for a fair price then he stays until someone pays one. At the moment nobody has offered close to a fair price. So the release clause is a non issue.

Never said we should buy his replacement at once. There won't be another season with him even if the owners have sell him on the cheap. Bids will come if he doesn't go full retard and ends his career by his own hand. There is just no way there won't be a bid if he performs like the first half of the season unless you put +90M on his head.

forgot about the 2015 deal when the club was still giving release clauses lol that makes him even dumber and he can't talk about the club not wanting to give him a release clause anymore (unless he had one before)

the point is, he could have managed to lose a bit of money for a year, go on a free and go to a club that will give him a signing bonus that will make up for that lost revenue and then some!

he was naive and played an open hand, sometimes you have to be a wolf to get what you want.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been willing to do that. It was a no lose situation for him really... play well and big club will come in for him if he didn't (which he didn't really) then he's still on 100k a week
