If Mahrez continues to spit his dummy out who is going to meet his release clause if we add one in? Nobody is going to want to sign him the way he is acting. He is doing more damage to himself than Leicester by going incognito.

Leicester haven't done anything wrong here. He is our player, his valuation (£95 million is perfectly reasonable after the Neymar/Coutinho deals) hasn't been met so he stays with us, end of story.

I cant believe how pathetic this #freemahrez is. Seriously grow up.

I thought we wanted £80 million, but I could be wrong.

we valued him at 95 but we indicated we would accept 80 to get a deal done

I expect that any new negotiations will begin at 95 from our end but given it wont be jan and his antics that's going to be a struggle to justify !

Issy Musset. LOL. Cheered me right up that. Followed by a "we" as in their is a genuine care for the club by the original poster. You support Mahrez, embrace it. Pretending to give two shits about Leicester is not going to add anymore value to your posts. It is what it is.

The release clause does not really help and will probably infuriate matters further. The club want more than his admirers are willing to pay, at present. Leicester seem to be the only ones expected to sacrifice here.

Mahrez needs to honour his contract.

Man City, with money need to be less tinpot. They did the same with Sanchez. Man U came in, assessed his availability and got the deal done - that's what Man City need to do.

Club need to set out what is acceptable. Read an article today that Salah should be £100 million - how is £80million for Mahrez unreasonable.

If Man City or another team pay that, he gets his deal - we believe he is worth that. It's up to him to convince his "admirers" of the same. The only people who seem to understate Mahrez value is those not associated with Leicester. That includes Mahrez himself.

No they don't, There legally binding on both parties unless a court decides otherwise.

I doubt very much if his agent is advising him to down tools as that would lead to the Agent possibly being sued buy the Club also.

Mahrez really needs to get back to work and try and negotiate a way forward. The longer he stays away and causes embarrassment to the club, The more likely they are to dig their heels in.

If what you say is right why hasn't his agent intervened and "advised" him that it is not in his best interest to stay away? Mahrez is his own worse enemy in all of this and the sooner he realises that and works as per his contract the better.

Release clauses aren't for rational market values. If you think his market value is higher than we rejected from Man City, his buyout clause would have been for much much more. So really? What's the point?

[from Wiki]

Moustaphe-Kemalle (Issy) Musset was a French-English-Turkish philosopher, humorist, and football player.  He played mostly for Cité de Lésteur, AKA les Renards.   Later, under the reversed pseudonym Mussy Isset, he is thought to have become a minor online humorist and footy analyst.  His mates held this “Isset” in high regard, though critics found his material “old as the hills”.

Musset is tied to an odd cult based in Algeria.  Adherents worship a diminutive, yellow-topped deity by posting clips of his every touch online, and spouting bullshit on football boards.  How Musset became tied to this cult is uncertain.  Some theorize the cause is simple confusion whether Issy Musset and Mussy Isset are actually the same person, or whether “s” and z” are the same letter.

His agent, if he's truly looking out for his interests I'm sure will be telling him to get back to work. But he Mahrez is so pissed off with the Club he's

not thinking objectively. We've all been there at some point when we dug our heels in even when we might be wrong.

At some point he'll begin to rationalize things and realize that the Club haven't done anything wrong only protect it's interests while requiring him to honor his Contract. The strange thing i the sooner he does get back the better he'll feel. Then he can come to an agreement with the Club and a plan to move forward.

What I find strange is that he surely must know that the Club is only going in one direction, And any success with Leicester is so much more rewarding than any of the big six. We're no longer little old Leicester, We're one of the wealthiest Clubs in the world playing in the best league in the world.

In time he'll realize that his Title win with Leicester will far outweigh any success he may have elsewhere.

This

The sooner Mahrez realises that the Man City offer was an INSULT - being at the last minute and not for his full value - to both the club AND himself, the better.  To then play better (preferably against Man City themselves, not that it'll happen :( ) and get a much higher transfer fee in the Summer to a competing club would throw it back in their face :P

Refusing to turn up for training or travel on matchdays - surely that's grounds for sacking? Misconduct? Can't the club get the legal team on that, because if he was released then any clubs who want him wouldn't have to match our wages, and if Mahrez knew about this he'd probably pull his finger out and get on with his job

that would be a very messy situation (club wise) for many reasons.

1- let's say that the club will terminate his contract and he has to pay a fine, there is no way the fine could be enough to make up for 50% of the money the club could get for him in the summer.

2- does the club want that kind of reputation with dealing with want aways?

3- riyad will go out of his way to make it a PR disaster for the club.

4- let's say the "50 million promise" is real, wouldn't that make the owners out as liers?

5- the club can only fine him so many time before the FA an CAS get involved. (the FA already offered help)

6- riyad can just say that he is in distressed and not mentally prepared to play or train. have fun trying to prove he's lying on that.

it isn't just black and white. when it gets to court, it will get nasty. the best thing or all parties is to work it out peacefully.

and about the wages, the other clubs will offer 2....no, 3 times as much as the club if they can get him on a free. 10 million signing bonus and paying him 300k for 5 years is like buying him for 88 million and not having to pay him a single penny on salaries for the rest of his contract

It pains me to my very core that I have yet to read the previous three pages in this thread yet I must echo what I can only assume has been uttered previously: when we're offering a previously assumed core problem with our recruitment as the solution we may as well start saying our new tactical problem is that we're no longer getting the central defence to mindlessly boot the ball to Vardy.

What Mahrez does know is that the owners would be insane to sack him when they could sell him for 10s of millions of pounds.

terminate his contract and ask for a 25 million compensation. he will take out a loan and pay that amount and when he signs for a new team he will ask for 25 million as a signing bonus and tells that club "congratulations, i just saved you 50 million"

the club is the only one here losing money
