Still need to do the Sheffield pubs. Looks superb

I think you'd need a couple of weekends to make a good dent. The suburbs are the best in the country for pubs I think

If I only had one day there, I'd be best off doing the Kelham Island ones right?

Yeah, even hard to whittle those down but I'd say do the Wellington, Gardner's Rest, Harlequin, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern and Shakespeare's.  There are others that are pretty good but not quite top drawer (Riverside, Ship, Millowners).

Heading back into the city Three Tuns leads onto Fagan's then the Grapes and Dog & Partridge are a stones throw away from each other. Probably a set of 10 as good as any in the country.

Irish pubs aren't my favourite of the genre but the Grapes (and Fagans) is top notch. Very reasonable prices last time I was in too

Last night I caved in after almost 18 full days.

Two pints of Guinness.

And no, they weren’t creamy enough, the glasses had clearly been washed in a dishwasher and the domeage wasn’t quite there @Tommy G

Name and shame the pub!

It was in Nuneaton 👀

Surprised Guinness has made it there - I guess plenty of Deano pubs to serve it up

At the 3 swans for lunch in Harborough today and had a few pints of Langton Inclined Plane. It’s a bit old fashioned by today’s US style IPAs (I know it’s an Amber), but it’s a really nice easy beer and damn good value too. Must go back to the brewery soon as it’s a decent visit.

I'm going to one of my local beer festivals (in Salisbury) tomorrow. It's very unusual for East Midlands beers to show up down here, let alone ones from Leicestershire, but there are two on the list for tomorrow.

Any thoughts on Leatherbritches' Comfortably Numb or Mad Brewer's Twisted Citra?

In Manchester next Friday for a client's dinner/lunch.

Looks near certain that me and a work colleague will be sampled the double delights of the Peak of Peveril and Britons Protection before the meal

Leatherbritches stuff is pretty good but I hate the branding, never heard of Mad Brewer

Having had a look at the Leatherbritches website, Mad Brewer might be an alternative brand they use sometimes. Maybe I'll find out tomorrow!

Yeah, I had a delivery from them during Covid and some of it was Mad Brewer gear.

Tamworth Tap winning Camra pub of the year for the third time, yawn.

I'm interested to visit as it's not too far, but it doesn't look that great online.

It’s a good pub, fantastic cask selection but it’s just not worthy of being a three time winner.

Lichfield is a better day out than Tamworth if you’re heading that way. Joule’s pubs are all worth a visit

Had half a Putty in Weavers opposite foregate street.  Strange old venue but really excellent cask and keg selection.

Then on to the Plough for several excellent pints of Salopian Paper Planes a very hazy, hoppy cask pint.  The gaff was packed.

Think I first frequented 12 or 13 years ago and it's the same landlord/lady. Know their sh1t and a number of continental lagers and Belgian beers on keg.  Great whisky selection.

Moved to Worcester a few weeks ago, already knew it reasonably well; a superb, diverse and well supported pub scene.

Vastly better crawl than central Birmingham, not that it's difficult, but I think it's an underrated city for boozing.

Nice Hoskins bitter in the Ale Wagon.

Come to the conclusion I like the Real Ale Classroom, but I just don't quite really know why.

I just wish they had some proper seats in the real ale classroom!

Oh god yeah. We were on the table with the weird circular seats that swing out. Gave it up and stood after two attempts.

Did a walls of York pub crawl yesterday which was good fun. The Swan and Phoenix probs the pick of the bunch. Swan reminds me of Three Pigeons in Halifax. Yorkshire is the best place for pubs and beers in the UK for me, and I haven’t even done Sheffield properly yet. In Whitby next weekend.
