The Holy Trinity of Stout across 8 pubs in Belfast.

The Crown and Duke of York are stunning pubs but absolutely packed out. You'd do well to ever get a booth at the Crown. So my favourite was actually Bittles Bar and Kelly's Cellar. The latter was packed but it's an incredibly old building. The Sunflower is absolutely worth visiting as well.

Rather unsurprisingly beer there was at least a pound cheaper per pint - obvious reasons about brewing in Ireland and the travel but even a very decent pub I managed to get a pint of Guinness for £4.50

Had a good crawl in London on Saturday for a mate's stag.

Few around Euston then Holborn into Waterloo. Princess Louise has a beautiful interior but standard Sam Smith's obscene pricing, it's a shame post-covid they're about the worst value pubco in London.

Did quite a few taprooms in New York last week: Other Half, Talea, Wild East and Fifth Hammer- all excellent. I had a cask ale in two of them which was on the money and served with a sparkler!

It’s quite hard to find sessionable 4/5% beers out there, and the hazy IPAs at 7% are so easy to drink. I can’t work out if the regular crowd are absolute pissheads or treat beer like wine

I managed to get a booth when I went to the Crown but couldn’t get into Bittles!

Some great pubs in Belfast, also rated Maddens and The Garrick

Went Maddens, which I was a big fan of and it was just building in there because 10pm music was on. But my Dad wanted out by that point.

I couldn’t get in the Spaniard either.

I hope you popped into the Lord John Russell. A pub I miss greatly, not a beer paradise but very nice vibes in one of my favourite micro areas of London.

We got kicked out for no discernible reason! Other patrons were completely baffled too

I have fond memories of it for various personal reasons but yes it is a slightly random and not very Bloomsbury pub with a colorful cast of characters behind the bar, painfully shy Taylor Swift uber fan being a particular favorite.

I did a road trip through Louisiana and Texas a few years back and the average strength of the beers on offer was a bit mind blowing (once you've managed to avoid the lite lager dross)! I particularly remember drinking cans of this monstrosity at an NFL game https://www.gooseisland.com/beers/big-hazy-pineapple-beer-hug. For the avoidance of doubt it is one of the most vile beers I've ever drunk!

I'd definitely had my fill of Hazy IPAs by the end of the holiday, although malty German dunkel/marzen style beers were quite popular in that area, which was a good antidote to IPA overload.

I thought the Woodies had a good reputation as a traditional  pub with well kept cask ale amongst the CAMRA crowd. I have heard reports of a bit of a Deano takeover though...

Woodies is a good pub but the deanos have well taken over with their financed bmw's and turkey teeth for sure. Outside on a warm day the "marbs area" attracts allsorts. equally it prices out a lot too!

Best boozers in Newcastle pls

It was pre Christmas, but the Dubliner down by the quayside was busy, live music, good laugh,

Crown Posada was good, just up the road from Dubliner.

What’s your plan out of interest? I ask because I’d say there is three distinct areas you’d drink in.

Free Trade Inn is one of the best pubs in the country but it’s in Ouseburn which is a good twenty to thirty minutes out of the city centre

Free Trade Inn, Cumberland Arms, Bridge Hotel, Crown Posada, The Carriage for Newcastle. Slightly disappointing amount of good pubs for its reputation, suffers with loads of big chains in the centre.

In other news Augustiner Helles is being rolled out on draught in Britain
