We need a rotation system where we have three managers .. when the bounce ends and the criticism starts for Manager no 1 we replace him with Manager no 2 who has his own bounce/criticism  cycle and is in turn replaced by Manager no 3.

If each bounce/criticism cycle could last around 12 to 13 games (excluding cup games) then 3 Managers would work out nicely over a full season.

Brilliant eh! Sometimes i surprise even myself.

Can I just make a point to all these people who are saying Puel has done a fantastic job taking us from 18th to 8th and 2 quarter finals, whilst these are facts and he is better than Shakespeare which you cannot argue against either however this league is poor, very poor, i'd even go as far as saying shit!

The fact Burnley, Us, Everton even Watford (No disrespect to the Watford fan who comes on here saying 'even' but he seems pretty down on the Watford situation - They're only 4 points behind us) can go through a such hit and miss season, bads runs such as Burnley (and ourselves) - not winning since December until the other week - I'm sure that's right?! :dunno: yet they remain 7th and 8th respectively sums up my point.

We have reached 2 quarter finals again, you'd say that was an achievement, which it is and we can only play what's infront us but we've played Sheff Utd, Liverpool reserves, Leeds and lost to Man City reserves in one competition and Fleetwood (2 attempts), Peterborough, Sheff Utd and lost to quite a strong Chelsea team (Of which we played quite well against may I add).

Listen i'm not taking anything away, i'm just saying it how it is, i'm frustrated we've not done better and perhaps I am abit too harsh or too far are on the negative side (Ironic) and there needs to be some middle ground like anything but I do feel people are paper over cracks and not looking deeper whilst accepting 8th - even 7th should we get it, whilst i'd be happy with that, it doesn't get away from the fact this league is bang average and we are very much included in that and struggled with which ultimately i'm not happy with/want better and 2 quarter finals are something amazing, it's average really when we know we could, should be doing better.

any teams below 6th are the teams that don't show consistency, doesn't mean the league is shit just anyone can be anyone (Besides Man city)

Burnley's 10-match league run without a win was due to (75% a bigger than normal injury list, 20% crap refereeing, 5% dip in pre-Christmas form).

But for dreadful refereeing, at least 2 matches would have been won - Huddersfield (away) and Southampton (home). Also a debatable 90th-minute free-kick led to Man United's equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Boxing Day. A record of W0 D5 L5 looks awful, but it should have been W3 D2 L5  (just about okayish).

Please don't bring the referee to explain a draw. You sound like your manager.

So what constitutes a good job?

People like Everton, Palace and Watford have all spent more than us or just about the same as us over the last few years and we remain above them. Whist it could have been better, it could also have been a damn site worse, I think we need to remember that.

You mention Watford being four points behind us, it might be worth pointing out that when CS went they were 10 points ahead of us, so we were playing catch up from very early on. From the point of CS's departure our points return would be comfortably 7th, just one point behind Arsenal who spend a damn site more than us.

Our form since the start of the new year would also see us 7th, so there has been no massive drop off like people try and make out either. Even with a bit more consistency, we'd only be what another place further up the league. Would that be cause for saying it's been a great season?

A cup run would be nice, but chirst we've never won the FA Cup in our history. And whilst we did amazingly under O'Neill in the league cup, three cups in 100 odd years tells you how bloody difficult it actually is.

I believe this is simply a result of us sacking three managers since 2015. Our fans now feel this is the norm and will pick anything apart.

Worryingly agreeing with everything you post recently. ;)

some people on this forum are negative for the sake of being negative, ignore them, especially when its clear to see claude has steadied the ship here.

I like Puel has done a great job since he has come in, look at where we were in the league when he took over, I guess nobody thought we would be 8 in the PL,

Agree, the league is dreadful, theres only Man City who are stronger than when we lifted the title. The rest havent moved on.

The quality of the English players will be reflected in the World Cup, cannot see us going beyond group stage.

what confuses me most is we're clearly showing progress, even sometimes when we don't win... its clear a transition in playing style which I believe is definitely for the better good, will benefit us far more in the next season, and we're still 8th!

The quality of league may be poor but that shouldn’t be the stick to hit Puel’s performance with.

The Bundesliga is dominated by a single team and the rest all play at a similar level. Do you think Dortmund fans think we are crap because we are  the best of the rest in a rubbish league?

It’s the competition we live in created by a top six cartel nicking any player worth of note and avoiding the progression of other clubs. The 14 other clubs don’t have the same level playing field, so the quality is bound to be lower. The fact that teams go on bad runs and remain in their position doesn’t say it’s a poor league but instead it’s a competitive league

We have to give the guy some time. A transfer window and the summer. Get his style of play properly adopted by the team. Re evaluate in December then let’s see.
