I could also have gone for Garry Parker for scoring a free kick of course.

insanely harsh from the ref there.

Was he previously warned about stepping forward?

So many keepers do it but penalties are usually re-taken in this scenario aren't they?

Scoring? Parker's was a second yellow for taking a free kick too early. Ludicrous, of course.

Tbf he's taken it to another level there. Sprinting off his line way before it's kicked.

Looking at the replay I’ve got to agree with the commentary it looks like his foot is still on the line, if it’s not it’s only a step at most in front of it

Commentators sound like some random blokes, "Unless there's a rule you can't move off the line during penalty shootouts.."

That's always the rule you berks

This one was too, but they changed it last year so that causing a retake is a yellow card. I dunno how they'd do it if it's the kicker in a shootout though.
Which just means that during the World Cup, no penalties will get retaken no matter how blatant.

Nah, he's moving early, but he shuffles backward and gets a launch forward. He's not actually that far from having his trailing foot still be on the line.

rules are rules. Any infringement by the goalkeeper is a yellow card

the referee already had words with both goalkeepers twice in the shootout

If this is the case then that's fvcking stupid to do it again.

Unlucky pal lol

Think it’s fair enough tbh, the kickers in the shootouts are under loads of pressure anyway. If he has to take it twice because of the keeper then a booking is about right.

In fact I think they should book them if they’re not on their line by the time the player gets to the edge of the box before he plays the ball. All this letting them walk up to them and try and psyche them out is nonsense.
