I thought these things were meant to be some kind of cultural show of the host. Not sure Robbie Williams singing 15 year old songs is relevant.

I'd much rather be sat listening to some Robbie bangers rather than watch some pretentious old "symbolism" twaddle that means jack sh*t to anyone.

The Russian FA have responded to the criticism of the opening ceremony with a short statement.

I've got enough headache to cope with already just listening to that shite - my luck it's badly mixed so people can't hear it in stereo.

Nothing against the lad - he's a football fan and Port Vale supporter, both morally and financially. For that he has my sympathies.

 

Just completely out of place at the Russia 2018 World Cup opening ceremony.

He fired me up no end - well, fired me up to go to the loo, that is.
