Worthington took a pen I  the first game I went to.  V Burnely.  About 1976.  My dad was in  uproar that Worthington should have been given the privilege of taking a penalty;  in the days of pre-political correctness,  Dad's words of choice for Worthingto  were 'ponce' and 'fairy.

He donated some of his own money to keep us going. In addition to what he did on the pitch. Legend, no doubt.

£100k if I am not mistaken. Home grown, over 50 caps for England. Bloody legend.

Fair point.  And bought to e feigning cramp shortly before Claridge's Wembley winner v Palace.  Sprinted seconds later

I'm glad you included Claridge. He's sometimes overlooked in these threads despite the fact he scored two of our most important goals ever.

Keith Weller!  I was at the cup game when he scored a blinder in his wife's tights.  If I recall correctly ,  Andy Peake and Dave Buchanan made their debuts in that game.

Hahahaha were they actually his wife's tights?

I always assumed she bought them for him but never that she'd worn them first. I really want you to confirm that's true. lol
