James get written off, whilst he may not be a world beater, its his first games in 10 months

This ^

All the stchik about him being “fatty James” and he passed the eye test. Looked trim.

To be honest I’d be surprised if we see many of today’s players next season . All today did was highlight how many average players we have and you’d have to be some kind of idiot if you didn’t see it . People have been moaning about Mendy and Wilf , but as you can see from today he doesn’t have many other options . There are too many players happy to sit back and take a fat wage whilst moaning about not playing but still contributing nothing . Today showed why they’ve not been played and why they can move on . All the rumours about unhappy players and unrest is probably down to the same people  who Puel is trying to get rid off . They are like gangrene poisoning us and debilatating the club from moving forward the only cure is to cut of the limb I.e get shot of them

The clearout required is massive.

Amartey, Simpson, Morgan, Benalouane, Fuchs, Iborra, Silva, King, James, Diabate, Ghezzal, Kapustka, Slimani, Okazaki, Iheanacho. That’s 15 players who imo aren’t good enough, bang average or sadly past it.

A bit harsh on Amartey maybe. It could be debated Gray should be on that list too.

He's scored 6 goals in 100 games and in 3 years the only thing he's improved is the distance he runs per game. Get rid.

As for the list, Diabate & Amartey is harsh - but the rest i agree with.

First game in 10 months again, he is finished, on the treatment table more than the pitch, he’s had his fair share of money for nothing, BIN, terminate the stupid new contract, whatever, he’s league one level, if and a big if, he’s fit.

Well he's contract until 2021, so if we want to move him on we need to get him fit.

That's not going to happen though. You can't get him fit because he'll just get crocked again. We need to either pay up his contract or pray that someone somewhere is stupid enough to take him on loan

Half of those players are needed and still young and who can develop.

Amartey = Flexible and good back up.

Diabate = young prospect, loan him out like barnes

Ok yeah Ghezzal is absolute dog shit

Iheanacho is young man, he will come good in time.

Slimani = YOU GUYS ALWAYS COMPLAIN YOU WANT A TARGET MAN. he's a beast. Play to his strengths and it will work.

Yeah ship the rest out. Get rid of the deadwood.

Ideally, the above would all go with perhaps the exception of Amartey, and perhaps Morgan, James and Ghezzal.

Unless we plan to play with 2 forwards, Nacho should go to the benefit of all parties.

So that would be 10 out, thats a big number so is unlikely to happen in Jan, but unless there is a change in performance, tactic, I see no reason not to offload those 10 during the current and next window.

The rebuild starts proper now.

What would be the point? We'd have to pay out his remaining contract anyway (~£5m). May as well keep him for the few times he is fit unless we can sell.

Hopefully after January and next summer we'll have a really healthy looking squad.  I know there is a lot of doom and gloom but if we can get rid of the older/average players and strengthen where needed I think we'll be looking in great shape.  X

We need to sack whoever gave a player that hadn’t kicked a ball for 2 1/2 years, on top of all the other injuries before that, after about 3 games back a new contract ?

He’s in the premier league squad ?, I’m not bothered how he goes, he’s stealing a living, time to go

For me, sell at basically any price. Just need to strip some off the wage bill for sure

                     Kasper

Ricardo  Maguire  Evans  Chilwell

        Hamza  Mendy  Ndidi

  Albrighton  Vardy  Maddison

Ward  Soyuncu  Benkovic  Gray  Barnes Ghezzal  Iheanacho

Even with no incomings other than loan recalls we could field a team and subs that at least has youth and potential on its side.  If we can sign a more creative CM, a top class winger and a striker to truly challenge Vardy we don't look too far away.  X

Agree, wouldn’t want a fee, tell him to find a new club, no fee, he gets better personal terms, we will have to pay the difference, because we are the only ones daft enough to pay a player, what 30/50 grand with his injury record

That highlights the lack of creativity in our squad, including albrighton that’s 9 out of 11 defensive players.

I would say 6 out of 11 are defensive (Ricardo and Chilwell are about as attacking as FBs can get and Albrighton, although often maligned, has always been one of our highest assist providers).  But yes, I get your point, I was not really saying it was an ideal line up and if you read my post I clearly ask for a creative CM, a winger and forward.  I was merely trying to illustrate that the first step is probably to have a clear out as we could field a squad that was at least young and with potential before bringing other players in (which we clearly need and I clearly ask for in my original post).  X

Wasn’t a go at your post, it’s just when I looked at the true options we have, it’s all lacks quality and is defensive.

That’s probably the strongest side he can put out, and that’s concerning, little creativity, great for the counter against teams who go for us, nothing for the Cardiff of the world who sit in

At least we know where we are at with our squad depth. Many of us knew anyway.

James looked like he could barely run..

Shinji hasn’t offered anything for near on 2 seasons now.

Nacho I have backed since we signed him as he looked a goal scorer at Man City. His performances and application have been abysmal though.

Gray hasn’t improved at all since we signed him 3 years ago. Just offers no end product.

Ghezzal despite his goal was pretty poor..Does everything at his own pace and just doesn’t fit in.

i could add 4/5 of the other deadwood players to that also.

Sod the summer, we need to start addressing these issues now

Sorry if I misread your post, always on ultra defensive mode on FT, haha.  yeah, we definitely need more creativity in the team.  X

Free up a squad space, get his wages off FFP. He's 18 months into a 4 year deal and has been fit for about a month and a half of those. He's not going to be fit to play another game and we'd be lucky to get nothing for him.

I don't disagree, but we have to pay him until 2021 whatever happens, so the only way is to get him fit and try and move him on.

However I do disagree on people giving him a hard time for his performance after 10 months out injured.

Either way its on FFP, its just spread out over 4 years rather than one.

I got a feeling we will have penalty of squad space soon, so that not really a worry.

Paying off say 5m now though then saves 40k a week off that for the next two seasons.

Agree on the performance, it’s not his fault he was started, should be nowhere near the first team, with no pre season, don’t believe he plays under 23’s either.

Appalling decision to play him, and not to take him off earlier
