koop. Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Is the hype, over hyped? I understand Leeds are doing very well and all the best to them, but the media and their fans have painted this guy out to be the best manager to grace the game in our life time. He's like the bloody second coming Unsure what he's really achieved? And if he's so special why isn't he or hasn't he managed some of the biggest clubs in world football?? This YouTube video of his analysis of teams etc I am fairly sure isn't unique to him or his large team of analysts. Dont get me wrong, clearly doing great things with Leeds but Mouriniho has won ridiculous amounts of titles with some of the biggest teams in the world and yet the media and fans have painted him out to be the total opposite of Bielsa in recent times
blaaklint Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 In terms of honours: Argentina Summer Olympics Tournament Gold Medal: 2004 Copa America: Runner-up 2004 Newell's Old Boys: Primera Division Argentina: 1991 Apertura, 1992 Clausura Copa Libertadores: Runner-up 1992 Velez Sarsfield: Primera Division Argentina: 1998 Clausura Athletic Bilbao: UEFA Europa League: Runner-up 2011-12 Copa del Rey: Runner-up 2011-12 Also won the IFFHS World's Best National Coach in 2001 while with Argentina, and one EFL Championship Manager of the Month in August 2018 while at Leeds. Most impressively, he's been cited by Guardiola as the best manager in the world and has influenced a who's who of South American managers including Gerardo Martino, Mauricio Pochettino, Diego Simeone, Jorge Sampaoli and Mauricio Pelligrino. He's also been praised by some pretty famous ex-players: Roberto Ayala, Gabriel Batistuta, Fernando Llorente, Alexis Sanchez, Javi Martinez, Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte and Dmitri Payet.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Can we at least spell thread titles correctly please? Earlier we had a thread titled 'Midfeild'.
W88DY Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 He`s doing a brilliant job at Leeds, top of the table, playing good football will get them promoted hopefully !!

Guest Manini Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 He’s one of these obsessive, don’t leave anything to chance, bordering on insane, man of few words managers. I like him I think he’s a good manager. The Leeds fans absolutely adore him but to be honest after the absolute horse poo managers they’ve had to endure since Grayson left I’m not surprised.

Dont get me wrong, I didn't say he's never won anything but the way people are going on I'd expect Premier League, Champions League and every other bloody league on his CV And runner up doesn't count as winning something to be fair

Stadt Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 He's took a very average side without loadsamoney to the top of the championship playing class football. He's ****ing mental as well which is why he's loved.
Jattdogg Posted 21 January 2019 Posted 21 January 2019 And now we know why he has done so well the cheating cvnt lol. I think he is a good manager no doubt but im suspicious that the spying has leeds higher up the table then they should be. I will say he owned it when found out. I imagine others wouldnt have. Anyone see Holloways comments https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-holloways-hilarious-response-leeds-2442366.amp
foxy boxing Posted 21 January 2019 Posted 21 January 2019 If he fails as a manager maybe MI5 or the CIA will come calling
The Horse's Mouth Posted 21 January 2019 Posted 21 January 2019 Had very good spells with Bilbao & Chile, his Marseille team was really good to watch too until the wheels fell off
AjcW Posted 21 January 2019 Posted 21 January 2019 He’s far too inflammatory to manage one of the elite. I believe that’s the only reason he hasn’t... and that in itself skews his honours stats as he’s been at middling clubs not expected to do much. The Europa journey he took Bilbao on was nothing short of genius, you have to remember they’re only allowed basque players. He took a team that are very much mid table in Spain to the the Europa League final without a single bit of imported talent. If he wasn’t significantly unhinged he’d have won buckets of trophies at a Barcelona/Madrid/PSG/Man Utd, no worries about that.
J.Lisemore Posted 22 January 2019 Posted 22 January 2019 Over-achieving with an average squad and a board known for sacking managers in a blink of an eye. He’s doing a great job under those circumstances
