FLAN Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 Looked for a gardening thread without any luck planning to returf lawn at 40m square. Anyone recommend a supplier? A lot of local ones via google look pretty dodgy
Bellend Sebastian Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 Greenacre turf supplied the turf I had put down last week. Someone else that quoted to do the work would've used them as well, so I'm guessing they're reasonably well regarded. Their grass is growing well anyway
RobHawk Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 I ordered mine online. Much cheaper. Can't remember the name of the company now though
Buce Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 One of the posters on here is a gardener but I can't remember who it is. Edit: I remember now - it's @pSinatra
Trav Le Bleu Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 One of the threads on here is about turf, but I can't remember what it's called.
pSinatra Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 I always use Rolawn Medallion. The quality is excellent & the price is good. Rowlawn Medallion It gets delivered by courier on a pallet. I've lost count of the times I've used them & they've never let me down. You'll find cheaper (only slightly) & most turf is adequate. Even the stuff you get from B&Q is ok - if you get it on the day it's delivered to the store. Any specific questions - let me know
Guest Posted 25 April 2019 Posted 25 April 2019 Ask the chap who did this lawn. He might know a thing or two.
Rob1742 Posted 25 April 2019 Posted 25 April 2019 I got a quote for artificial turf for a holiday home I have. It isn’t that large a lawn, but the quote was. £23,000. When they rang me, I was just wondering at what point they thought anyone would accept that sort of quote.

Nick Posted 4 May 2019 Posted 4 May 2019 I’ve just taken the top off my old weedy lawn and replaced the top soil and put some grass seed down. I have no idea what I’m doing however and 5 days in I just have a patch of dirt which I keep hopelessly applying water to that looks like somebody shook a dying Christmas tree over.

Seeding is hard, I had success one year with it but I’ve failed before and since. I’m too tight to turf though

I chucked some seed down about a month ago on my own lawn, when the weather was probably better than it is now. It still took about well over a week - more like 2 weeks.

IT'S ONLY BLOODY WELL GONE AND STARTED GROWING!!!! I'm like Alan Titchmarsh on crack about this.

Top Tip: When seeding a lawn, don't chuck all the seed down in one go. Leave yourself enough spare for the inevitable patches You'll be fine. It'll soon thicken up when you start cutting it. So long as the patches are not huge & completely bald, they will probably fill in naturally over time.
