Non League Football 2019-20

Recommended Posts

Went to Slough Town v Dorking Wanderer's today.Dorking were only formed in 1999 and yet have already been promoted an incredible 11 times.I must admit that despite being an avid fan of non league football (M3/M4 corridor esp) this had passed me by until the back end of last season. They won 1 nil scoring in the last 5 seconds, with a team full of experienced campaigners so should thrive this season.

Well, other than what I hear was a great early goal, it sounded pretty dire from Notts today.

Notts 1 - 2 Barnet

Actually heard some boos at the end of the match. I knew that whole thing about being just happy to still have a team wouldn't last long lol

So many new players in needing time to gel as a unit, challenging pre season not knowing whether the takeover would go through but you can't get away from the fact it's been a pretty dismal start.

Are you convinced by Ardley as manager?

Fans will, and should, never accept struggle. It's in your nature to want the best for your club and 15 months after being close to going into League One, to sit near the bottom of the Conference must be very galling.

Only 4000 there today too.

I wasn't surprised at the dropoff from the home opener. I heard it was televised over there so. 4000 is really just what we were getting a couple seasons ago. I'd be concerned if it keeps going down though.

I don't know why those 2 quotes stuck together lol

I am giving them time certainly. As you said, wasn't a real preseason with all that was going on. Didn't make any signings until the team had been bought by the Danes.

I'm not sure about Ardley. I see from the Notts forum he's taking some heat. Hate to think of another manager coming in, but if so then do it now as the team hasn't been sorted yet anyway.

It is frustrating as it wasn't that long ago we sat amongst the top of L2 along side with Luton and Lincoln and then to see where they have both gone since. I tend not to think much though about stuff that can't be and I will keep positive that we can start to resemble a team sooner rather than later.

Two new signings for Notts today.

32 year old striker Wes Thomas, who last played with Grimsby. He will be replacing Kane Hemmings who left for Dundee last week.

21 year old central midfielder Regan Booty. Came through Huddersfield and was on loan last season at Aldershot.

Have to love Thomas's quote:

"This is a massive club and one that should be playing in a higher division".

The Notts announcers were having a bit of fun with his name tonight lol

Sounds like he had a decent debut.

First win of the season for Notts and first ever non league win!

:celebrate:

Went to see Grantham Town V FC United Of Manchester today, Grantham winning 3-2 with a late goal, Ex Portsmouth, Chesterfield and Mansfield Striker Craig Westcarr scoring twice. Brilliant support from FC United who brought at least 500 supporters down.

It's an athletics stadium, fairly similar to Gateshead's, terrible atmosphere (usually) and bring your binoculars to see the players lol

Nice and local for me though.

When I went there, we stood on the terrace when all of sudden next to the neighbouring swimming pool which you could see across to, there was this massive fight between about 20 teenagers aged between 11 and 13.

Always nice when a team goes above and beyond to provide full value for your ticket price.
