They are fishing the markets for players as well slightly ahead of us. Having another rival for those spots isn’t good news; particularly when there’s 7 European spots and 6 clubs so far financially ahead. Its a pain but the current financial set up / rewarding for clubs finishing in the top four means it’s better for the status quo to stay as it is.

Next year maybe it’s us again, but the more clubs that could do what we did, what West Ham may do, the more the landscape changes. If it’s always just us, we are easy to keep at arms length, it’s too easy for us to misstep.

Likewise those players who have or have tried to engineer moves away should perhaps take a look at themselves and ask a few questions. It wouldn't be a good thing for non big six clubs to make the top 4 if we made the top 4 by your logic. We'd be ahead of those rivals already, we can't then bemoan them taking their opportunities (Which remains to be seen whether they do or not may I add) when we had the same opportunities but didn't take them.
