Not to pick on Lawro but he has won 5 league titles and a European Cup and played over 350 games for a dominant Liverpool side. Plus years of watching and commenting on football after he retired. You'd think he'd have a wealth of knowledge and excellent opinion backed up by his own playing experience and having been involved in football for 50+ years. But no. Its not only him, there are numerous ex players, in particular those who played in the 80s and 90s, who come out with some absolute asinine stuff. I mean, **** me, Michael Owen still calls us a counter attacking side. Is he stuck in 2017? 

 

There are journalists and fans who could do Lawro"s job (and Owen, Merson etc) 100x better but broadcasters believe fans won't tune in in great numbers if they have Rafa Honigstein and Gab Marcotti in the studio rather than Roy Keane and Steve McManaman. They couldn't be more wrong. Fans tune in to watch the games. Ex pros in the studio isn't the attraction they think they are.

Who invariably predicts an 8-0 win for which ever team they support, not taking it seriously. Yet these "celebs" beat him nearly half of the time.

Rafa Honigstein is my man crush and Gab Marcotti is just awesome - on the Golazzo pod with AC Jimbo he cracks me up but knows his stuff (they all do)
