You'd barely know VAR was in play during this tournament and that's because it was used correctly. None of this microanalysing every goal for a reason to chalk it off

Definitely agree on the last point .

There were still a few debatable VAR decisions but guess guess there always will be .

Certainly whatever decision was made got done quickly and efficiently.

And hardly any silly offside decisions.

Only bad thing in this tournament  was how long the lineos take to flag up an offside.

I know it's some directive but its fecking annoying!

I afraid it’s in our psyche - application of the rules to the nth degree

Some european laws that irked so many here  - many European countries barely introduce them, let alone enforce them. Not here !  We employ council officials to go around and make sure they’re complied with. Same with var -ITS NOT THERE TO RE REFEREE THE GAME -

won’t change here though … fairness blah blah blah ….

refs make mistakes ….it’s normal - only the really big ones should be overturned - not a slight contact etc etc. Hopefully the thicker lines this season and the removal of the sleeve for offside will help that element (although the length of time they take to analyse …..)

VAR was great because it may as well not have been there. I think I can remember one decision that git overturned, the Sweden one? Other than it was pretty much referees call.

European refs are just better.

Our refs seem to stop and start the game too much. In one of Taylor's games he booked a player 2 mins in.

The referee last night was taking no abuse off the players. In fact it looked as if he was being strict with them.

I think it helped that we didn't have sky and BT analysing each incident to the nth degree with multiple camera angles and subjective opinions and then repeating it.

I don't know who was controlling the editing but there was also much less replays of minor issues/attempts when the game was in play which English broadcasters do.

As @Rajsaid they need to sort out the offside flagging as they're not even consistent with it.

I also noticed that when  Grealish was fouled byJorgino, wasn't that a red? Grealish wasn't made to leave the pitch. Has that rule now changed?

VAR used probably is a great thing for the sport.

Also can we please clone Björn Kuipers. What a ref. Takes no shit and never gives the minimal contact flops as fouls. He has been superb every time I have seen him.

I think that if you are the victim of a foul (could be only when the opponent receives a card) then you don’t have to leave the pitch after treatment

Can we have the VAR mentality & approach we saw at the Euros..!!

I think the big differance was that at the Euro's, we had competent refs who where not scared to make a decision and VAR was there just in case but in the PL we have refs scared to make big calls and instead leave it to VAR. How many blatant calls have we saw that the ref has left and 2 minutes later VAR has brought it back?
