Hello!

I am looking into possibly coming out to Leicester next season for a match! I'm from the Philadelphia Area and have been checking travel advisories just about every day. I got my membership this year for the 14 other games and not the big 6. Big six matches would be fun, but I think seeing teams like Aston Villa, west ham, and Brentford will be more fantastic! However, there is a lot of questions to ask. Where can I find a place to drink before the game? Is it possible to get a second ticket for a friend? What is anyone's advice on what I should do while I'm there!

Thanks!

I think the law was changed in the UK years ago. You should have no problem 'coming out' in Leicester. Have you told your parents yet?

Yep. I'll alert him to this thread (can't remember his username on here).

Leicester has its charm and is enjoyable to foreigners in the same way I might thoroughly enjoy a visit to some godforsaken hicksville redneck mid west town. It aint no Philly.

Loads on here will have suggestions for good city centre pubs whereas I'd say the Leicester  'experience' would be keenest felt pre or post match in a suburban anstey or blaby or groby. Local pub Rougher. Readier. Unfreindly but not intimidating. Whiter. Brexitland. Get a bus in. Have a curry after. Watch a 44 year old bitch scrap outside a kebab house at about 11pm. Kinda fascinating in is own way!

TBH that sounds alot more fun than you think. Being from the Philly Area I see that stuff every Eagles game hahaha, I dontcause anything but I do enjoy watching those things from afar.

Go to The Top House in Thurmaston, full of local character.

Lived here all my life and been of legal drinking age for 12 of them but I’ve never actually been in

It's the sort of pub where you wipe your feet on the way out.

Going to the Prince of Punjab is a must.

If you go for a walk around the City Centre shopping area look up above eye level as that is where most of our better buildings exist. Don't look at the pavement unless you're doing a thesis on how artistic chewing gum can look stuck on the pavement surrounded by litter.

I'd recommend a stroll down beautiful Saffron Lane, ending with a visit to Leicester's 'Roman quarter' with it's ancient aqueduct at Raw Dykes.

End your morning with high tea at 'Morrisons' five star restaurant.
