In training…could this be the reason for…

-lots off non impact injuries & niggles= muscle Fatigue

-being out run for large parts of games

-players making mistakes and all round lack of concentration, mis-timed fouls owing to mental fatigue, slow reactions, fast twitch fatigue…

-minimal running into space, finding the voids

Just a thought as I’m scratching my head. The only saving Grace at the minute, is Man City started crap last season and got better. Maybe our sports scientist are following the same blueprint, to get stronger as season progresses.

thoughts?

It kinds reminds me of what used to happen in FM2006 if you let the AI take over pre-season - the team was always undercooked and not match-fit for the first month or so...

Don't understand how other teams haven't had the same injury problems like we have this year. Any answers?

Maybe something to do with the medical team

Last season Liverpool and Leicester suffered an horrendous injury list. Clearly Klopp and Rodgers know less than some Foxestalk armchair medics.

As do the doubtless large and well-trained training/medical/physio staff both clubs will have. I don’t know why they spend all the money on these people when they could just post on here to ask what would work best.

I said this last season but got shot down quite a bit on here. Brendan must realise something is wrong as this is now the third season in a row where injuries are hindering our ability on a match day.

I dont think anyone in this thread think we are “armchair medics”

besides I think you mean “armchair physios and/or sports scientist”

I was the OP and felt it was worth a discussion, it’s been a pretty healthy one as far as I can see with some good points and counter points. Certainly no one is saying we are right, just felt it was a merited topic to discuss.

Not sure you can blame a lack of pre-season fitness as a reason for Ricky P's injury though. A few people posted his pre-season workouts and vid clips from soshul media and the man was a machine with the intensity of his running and how he was building himself back up again. We certainly don't have as many pre-season games as we used to, seasons gone by would have 5 or 6 games now we always seem to cope with 3 or 4 and some players have literally had 45 minutes of football going into the season. With the sports science and prep these days, muscle injuries should never be down to bad luck.

Last season was a very compressed season, then the last 2 pre-seasons  have been reasonable short, Plus the forced anniversary international commitments.

i am Surprise that Tielemans, ever present is still ticking...

After the Man.City game I would be suggesting  a rotationall period for him ,Ndidi,Maddison, and Soyu...Even with Soumare, Vestergaard,Bertrand

Now in the ranks, I still would prefer Praet to stay,  all being given decent game time, because we will then have 3 competitions we will be mixing with..

Our team, should Now be considered a group of 15-16 players who consistently Play & Rotate smoothly...

This us the First time I criticise Rodgers, he should of Integrated Praet more into the team, with more game time from the bench ,

from pre-season until now..

KDH,Soumare,Daka, will know they have to bide their time, But Praet even before his injury, should have seen more game time,

it was a Lack of forethought not using a Quality Ressource already strong within the Set up...

That's why I said "some."  Agree that medic is the wrong word.

Last season we barely did proper training due to the sheer number of games and how they were scheduled.

Just wondering if we didn’t have enough friendlies pre season. The first 3 the players only had roughly 45 minutes each and too many subs in the Villarreal and Man City games. Why didn’t we have more friendlies where he could of sent teams to play full 90minutes etc and therefore build more fitness. It just seemed a bit shambolic to me at the time. But what do i know

We played at least two more friendlies behind closed doors (v Hearts and Forest) and there will have been more
