Apparently Alpine's option on Piastri expired on 31st July and they were expecting Alonso to stay so didn't use it

 

Then Alonso gets announced at AM on 1st August, and the first anyone at Alpine knew about it was seeing the press release...

Personally think he'll win too. RB has massive top speed advantage and he will walk past people on Kemmel.
