Ferrari have been shambolic this season, and the lack of pace shown this weekend just nails a Red Bull double in.

If Ferrari have changed their car due to the reg change, then all these changes coming in from this season have been for nowt, cus the gap between Red Bull and everyone else is astronomical

Infairness, red bull were always dominating this weekend because of how fast it is in a straight line, Ferrari a lot better in the slower corners and better aero wise. The gap isn’t that big, but it is over due to how much they’ve chucked away

According to this video McLaren had a deal with Piastri lined up in early July and Alpine had been told that too .

They were going to send him him on loan to Williams for 2023 expecting Alonso to stick around  and the Piastri management weren’t keen on that idea.

Ridiculously selfish from Russell. Mercedes should’ve stood up to him.

In fairness, hard to blame him for trying something different.  He wasn't anywhere near Hamilton on raw pace (hasn't been since Mercedes stopped experimenting so much to be honest) so this was only chance to get past and he took it.

You're right though that Mercedes should not have allowed it, team strategy exists for a reason.  They can't tell the leader of the Grand Prix to stay out with the expectation he'll have a rear gunner to act as a buffer to allow him to fire his tyres up and then to completely flip the script and leave him high and dry for a man who was never going to challenge Verstappen for the win even with fresh softs.  Braindead.

Mercedes screwed Hamilton with that call to stay out on Mediums. Obvious with hindsight that he was going to be vulnerable to all the cars on fresh Softs. Russell did exactly the right thing, and Hamilton has over-ridden strategy calls plenty of times before.

If both had stayed on mediums they would’ve finished 2 and 3 at the very least. Lewis was right that on any tyre they weren’t a match for Max’s Redbull on softs so the ONLY chance of a win while pretty much guaranteeing 2nd and 3rd was to both stay on mediums. That way Russell could’ve put up a fight (his earlier ‘defence’ to Verstappen was very poor).

I sense massive selfishness today from Russell. He knew Lewis had comfortably beaten him all weekend, as he has been doing since Merc stopped faffing with the setups and so seized an opportunity to finish ahead of Lewis and costing the TEAM points.

I think Russell saved mercedes a 2nd, both on mediums would have finished behind both leclerc and max. Merc mistake was bolting on that medium set when Lewis and George came in rather than the soft.

Infairness I think Hamilton ****ed the restart tbh, if he could've kept Max at bay before the first turn he defo could've held on for a bit longer

You're absolutely right, he did. Turns out he had the wrong engine mode selected, meaning Verstappen cruised up to him and past him.

Hamilton to start from the back this weekend with an engine penalty

Makes sense. That car is a dog at high speed so might as well take the pain at this race.
