I will put this out RIGHT now if YOURI leaves and we don’t invest in a CLASS midfielder we will end up been a mid table side , then we will start to lose players that we want to keep and it will be a lot harder to bring class players back to the club without having to pay overs which we won’t do .
U have to replace class with class or very close to class it .

Unfortunately until the stadium project is complete I think we’ll revert to being a 7-10th placed team for a bit. There was an opportunity to break into the Champions League places and the club were trying to do it, but we can’t compete with the finances other clubs in the league have. It’s not just the usual suspects but the big spending Villa and now Newcastle are prepared to spend.

King Power have shown they will back the team but when your primary revenue stream is related to Tourism then during a once in a lifetime worldwide health pandemic it’s easy to see why we can’t compete with oligarchs, oil money and wealthy financiers.

It depends on your expectations as fan as to what you think about this. Personally seeing what we’ve achieved and now seeing so many academy players line up for us makes me proud. Newcastle have just made a signing in Bruno Guimares that we would never make in terms of transfer fee and wages combined but whilst he’s a great player I’d rather our owners than theirs.

KP are building the club up and making it sustainable long term. After some incredible memories I could tolerate mid table and cup runs for a bit. Obviously I’d hope that wasn’t forever but I’m pragmatic enough to see the way the league is going.

I think if we can limit the leaving players to Youri, Kelechi and someone who isn't Ndidi then we'll be doing well.

Do slightly feel if we don't finish top 7 that the summer window is going to be a bit of a car crash

Need to keep Maddison too- especially if he can keep himself fit for more then half a season

I can see us losing key players like Maddison and N’didi if we fail to make Europe. Tielemans I think everyone knows is off. Then I can see Hamza, Perez, Iheanacho, Soyuncu leaving for first team football.

If all the above leave that’s a lot of money opened up but can we trust our current scouting apartment to find replacements. :dunno:

Then you’ve got the ageing players like Vardy, Evans and Albrighton who will be more back ups next season and will need replacements.

big summer ahead coming up!

It definitely has the feel of a transition period. As you mention a lot of ageing players (Vardy, Evans, Albrighton, even the goalkeeper) may well be about to retire, and there are various players who may be on their way to fresh pastures. Then we have players like Barnes, Thomas and KDH, who can all perform well, but may have off days. We will desperately need some new blood.

Will be an interesting summer. Our squad on paper is pretty good, but unfortunately we never have all of them available because of injuries.

We could quite easily be left behind by the likes of West Ham, Villa and others if we don't bring in some quality players. It's a shame King Power aren't willing to spend as we'll need to offload useful squad players (and Tielemans) in order to buy. If Maddison keeps up this form, he'll be strongly linked away as well.

People speak about the Youri moneys like it’s going to be loads I’d be surprised if anything over 40m even though he’s probably worth another 20 on that.

Yep with one year left on his contract we will be lucky to get our money back. That's why I think we all know he's going because as a club we can't let that sort of investment leave for nothing.

The fear I have is if we can't find a suitable replacement. Then do wilf, madders etc look and think we can't match their ambitions in the short term. Definitely a period of transition coming up.

I'm pleased Daka at least looks like he could be a successor to Vardy, but having already lost, fuchs, wes, I think we could be looking at the end of Evans, injuries, Marc, Maybe even Kasper and Vardy. And as a few have pointed out the likes of KDH, Thomas, Barnes don't perform to the standards set in recent years, Week in week out.

Hopefully, Justin and Forfana, Ricky can all come back with no setbacks and fully fit after the summer, otherwise we need to do something at CB as well. Cags seems so off the boil at the moment, you would want him to be senior pro and 1st choice at the back Week in week out either.

Will be really interesting, assuming Brendan is still here come the summer who he decides to sacrifice as he plans this rebuild and what our approach to incoming is. Our squad is already very young, but experience and quality won't come cheap and I'm not sure we have that cash for 4 or 5 players.

This is unfortunately true in my opinion, he is worth £100m to us, but we aren’t buying him though. So it is whatever the buying clubs is willing to spend, and I doubt with 1 year left on his contract, that would be north of the 40m you suggest.
