How much would he be on? Is there any news on that? Just wondering where he is placed in the wage structure.

His previous contract he was on £75k a week so I'd imagine he's on £100k a week now

As I said above, it’s more than feasible that his new deal will be the same as his previous one for obvious reasons …….

Actually, could well be that Ricky is on the same as his first contract or even a little less. I doubt there are many clubs queuing up to give him a deal out to 2026 at the moment …..

Why do you think that?

Do wonder if we'll come to regret this, he does seem very prone now.

It's a risk worth taking.

We will regret it a whole lot more if he left and did stay fit as someone else would have one of the best right backs in the world on their hands.

Pre injury Ricardo would have backed himself to play for a BIG club sooner or later.

This feels more like a safe move because he doesn't believe he will ever be what he was.

Just being my usual cheery self....

Or he is grateful for everything the club has done for him and is happy to stay and help build for the future.

Guess we will see in the future...

Because he is injured all the time

indirectly this

Not sure many clubs would want to give him a five year deal this summer on 75k/week in addition to a fee that we would ask for (10/15m)

we are offering him three years security which he may not be able to get elsewhere without taking the risk that he can’t get back to his levels over the next 18 months.

If we’ve offered him the same as he’s on now extended by three years then I think he’s the kind of character who would appreciate our support and trust. I’m sure that he likes it here. evidently he’s really good around the camp - intelligent and willing to muck in.

If he is really staying on 75k, that is a bargain for us, despite the injury risk you guys mentioned. At his best, he is one of the best FBs in this league. Guys like that in the league earn as much as 200k a week at least. Look at Shaw for example. At 75k, without paying a fee to get a new player in to replace him, it is good business any day of the week. Even at say 100k it is still a bargain. And as he got injured while playing for us, it is also kind of morally right to treat him right. If he had moved on before his injury - and there were clubs lining up for him - he would have doubled what he was on easily. Or triple plus in the case of Chilwell and Maguire. Ricardo was a better player than both of them.

So if he gets close to his best and sustains it, he will honour the length of the contract?

Would be interested to see an example of such a thing for a player not named Jamie Vardy

Time will tell on that. Surely a fit rampaging Ricardo is only great for Leicester. At 30+ where else is he going to go?

At 28, having been out for a long time with a career threatening injury, taking the tentative first steps to resume match fitness, struggling with all the set backs and niggling injuries that come with it - Where else is he going to go?

It wouldn't surprise me if his wage demands are reasonable or less than what he was earning before, to secure a longer deal.

Agree but my post was in response to someone saying Ricardo may have agreed to 4 years because he appreciates the way the club have looked after him.

So then it is a win win for Leicester. Stop being a negative  soldier and embrace positivity

Nope,  the fact Ricardo has gone for 4 years  probably at the expense of a wage reduction suggests the player himself isn't overly confident about his capability.

Don't worry about me, I'm OK with being negative and expressing my negative views on a forum for discussion:P

Realistically, I think Evans is done

Yeah sadly I think you are right. For him not to play the injuries must be really bad as he would play through any minor knock/injury.  Great news with Ricardo. If we can keep him fit he's one of, if not the best right back in the league.

After a few injury set backs of course he'd want to go for a longer deal.... What do you expect him to do run down his contract? And then if he picks up another serious injury as his contract expires, he's without a club.

I’m pretty sure jonny had an op on his hammy …….. I don’t believe it makes sense to play whilst recovering from an op !

It was the persistent niggling injuries before that I was referring to.
