Average games per goal contribution (last 4 years)

I did a bit of statistical analysis this morning, to see how our players compared to the best in Europe in terms of average games per goals and assists.

 

The players highlighted in blue show ours players (obviously). The ones I highlight in orange are players that should be on our watch list in my opinion. 

 

A bit of interesting reading for the international breal!

Wirtz will go for as much as Havertz if not more. No chance of players like Nkunku (who I'd love) or Szoboszlai either.

Wirtz is a special talent for sure. 

 

It's funny really, if we picked up the European Conference Cup, we'll have another trophy under our belt. That's some good success under Rodgers, whether we like the style of play of not. Would that make us more attractive to some of these players? I thought much the same about Daka to be honest. I could see Wirtz or Szoboszlai going to Bayern.

Took me a while to realise this is how many games it takes to get a goal or assist and not how many goals or assists you get per game.

 

Confused the hell out of me at first thinking Perez was like the best player of all-time and we all hadn’t realised. 

 

It also seems to count an appearance as 1 game whether you played 90 minutes or 2 minutes, as I don’t think Ricardo even played 20 games worth of football last season. Always thought per 90 minute stats are better than per game stats here.

Thanks for figuring out one of the most confusing things I've seen on here.  Ricardo with 8/71 G+A/90'?  Perez with nearly 5?

But it's not showing that is it? Looks more like some weird 'how many games it took to get a goal contribution?' 

 

And it appears to be in some sort of random order, rather than ranked or sorted in any way? 

 

Interested in the data itself, but presentation in its current form is confusing.

I'd love us to be ambitious enough to get some of these guys but there's only been a few signings of those younger players with big reputations since we came back up, in the shape of Daka, Youri and Ricardo. Can't think of another type of player like that where you'd say we've taken a player that was being courted by much bigger clubs.

 

The fact we've had the success we have and still seemingly compete with the likes of Villa, West Ham and even Everton is so disappointing.

Wirtz will no doubt end up at Bayern eventually, probably on a free transfer. 10 goals and 14 assists for an 18 year old is incredible stats.

There's a bit of a difference between goals per game and games per goal.

 

Perez isn't getting nearly 5 goal contributions a game, is he? That's pretty bloody obvious.
