For every Benjamin Mendy, there could be an innocent guy. And it's wrong for the police to say "A 29-year-old from..." Why do I say that? Well, I was arrested on allegations of rape, that hung over my head for almost 2 years and absolutely destroyed my mental health. Thankfully, I was completely exonerated. Please be careful of making judgements over people. If a rape has been committed, that's absolutely abhorrent and I hope that the perpetrator is punished to the full extent of the law. This might sound insensitive, but if someone is making this up, they should face the same punishment. Either way, it's fvcking awful. 10

I’m not saying this 29 year old is innocent or not, but what I will say is I’ve known two women over the past 15 years that have lied about rape. If you're accused of a crime, you should have the right to complete anonymity. However, if found guilty... A lot of examples of this. The quirky looking landlord accused of killing his tennant is one. Sued the press for millions. Great programme made about it starring Jason Watkins. Edited 4 July 2022 by tom27111 1
