Put up some very good numbers for Cheltenham. We do need to bring in some midfielders and hopefully Callum is given a chance in pre season.

Thought we had already done this for last season but we have used an option to extend his contract for another year

 

Good to see there is apparently a lot of interest from the Championship as well

 

I think he may be worth giving a new contract and loaning out to the Championship rather than selling this summer

Luton apparently interested. Would be a great loan for him and good to continue our good relationship with them. If he can come back and 'do a KDH', it'll be win-win.

Big summer for him, glad the club have taken on the option as he's clearly going to have some value either on the pitch or monetary.

Looking forward to seeing if he impresses this summer, with the 5 sub rule he may be the sort we ought to have around. Although he'd need to be named in the 25 man squad which means we'll have to get a lot of players out the door but you never know.

Has he not gone on loan? I swear I had read he was going Luton for the season

Nothing confirmed yet, same with Braybrooke too. I think they'll get a few weeks pre season with us first before anything is confirmed.

Well I suppose they'll count as 2 new signings towards the rebuild. Throw in Praet, Lookman, Alves and Nelson and that's 6 new signings.

I don't think getting players out the door will be an issue, at least not for the 25-man squad (could be for money.)

 

Generally, being told you won't be named to the squad will at least get you motivated enough to get a loan arranged.

 

Mendy was an exceptional case, due to the international calendar and Covid travel rules.

 

I think a few of the players being pushed out are on a "make as much as you can" list, and a few are on a "take the hit" list ... but the club is playing chicken on who is on which list.

 

They are forcing the issue with Torino ("don't say you want to build a team around our player and then lowball us"), and I expect a few others are being handled the same way. But come August, the exits will take place.

 

Wright (and Hirst, I guess) just has to prove he is worth keeping around.

The only player of any experience who was transferred last summer was Josh Knight. Ghezzal was virtually given away. Why should it be any different this year.?

We didn't undersell any players last summer. Ghezzal was utter dross for us, and we were never going to get anything real from him, especially from a Turkish side (which was his level.)

 

There is Premier League and Championship interest in the folks we are trying to offload. Even Praet will end up going for 8-10 million in Italy.

 

I am not saying we can make 100 million in sales, but comparing our current deadwood to a lame duck Ghezzal (and Ghezzal sold during a pandemic) is absurd.

I got a feeling this will go the same way as Sowah, chance to impress then be sold to a Championship club, for a small fee with a sale-on clause, the same goes for Hirst.

 

With them both having to be named in the squad, I can't see how we fit them in the 25-man squad.

Don’t really see the point in us trying to add Hirst unless Nacho leaves and we don’t get someone else like CDK in

I guess they have a choice. Stick around and train with the kids and not play or get a move.

Rather forcing their hand.

Thomas doesn’t, Fofana does

 

If we signed CDK he wouldn’t need to be

 

“Under 21” players for this season are anyone born on or after 1st January 2001
