Watching england... play possession football and failing to score is a bit like watching Rodgers' Leicester .

Keeping the ball out of the net is the issue, not scoring

Looks like the board have failed to back his "big rebuild".

I think they are pushing him towards the door.

So much crap conjecture in this thread

I still don’t know why people make out Rodgers has 100% of the control over transfers as a way to criticise him, he doesn’t have anything close to it. We’ve not operated that way as a club since Sven. We’re not giving “Rodgers” the rebuild job and relying on his nous in the transfer market, we’re giving our recruitment team the rebuild job and relying on their nous in the transfer market.

Virtually no top flight job gives their manager that control to dictate all the signings anymore.

No of course not, the days of O'Neill & Robertson spending the night at Neil Lennon's house to influence a transfer are long gone but he will be dictating the positions and type of players he wants. If the recruitment team give him that and we end up well adrift of the top 6 then they'll rightly question why they paying top money for mediocre achievements. Last season he told them we needed cover in midfield, CB and left back - we ended up with Soumare, Vesty & Bertrand, so it's no wonder Congerton & others have moved on. I just wonder how much of our budget is dependent on Tielemans moving on & how far our rebuild extends if he stays another year.

Obviously there are a lot of factors as to why he's third favourite for the sack!

Opening few fixtures

Squad/expectations

How last season went

Etc, Etc.

The bookies very rarely get things wrong! (Apart from 2016)

He needs to get off to a decent start, if we're struggling early on for results the pressure will keep building.

The opening few fixtures include Brentford, Southampton and Brighton. There's nothing for us to fear with any of them.

I give him 12 matches, and I expect at least 20 points.  Less than that and he can go.

Can see more than 15 points in the first 10 matches myself, is that elite manager performance?

I'm not saying. 😐

We do all know that we actually finished 8th in the league right? Rodgers did some daft things last season but we were  fooked with injuries and still ended up 8th

I was as guilty as anyone in terms of criticising him when we were playing pants, but tbh given what we had last season, we ended up about right

He’s got to be given a transfer window, backed by the club and at least ten games before any changes are considered surely?

Rodgers has finished top 6 twice, won the Community Shield, won the FA Cup and finished 8th in a season when half the squad was consistently missing.

I wouldn't bet on it if it was 5000/1. We'll be back fighting for top 6 next season.

There were times last season when I wouldn't have been too fussed if he went, but I'm actually quite optimistic about this season.

Fully fit squad, less matches... think we might see that extra bit of intensity in our play again.

We've got a great chance to be up there next season imo if we have a fully fit squad, no European games then we stand a good chance we have a lot of quality players a few additions and we could be a serious threat.

We need to play like we did in the last few games when we won 5, 3, 4 or w/e it was.

Replicate that amount of points gained, and that would get us 6th place.  Realistically this is what we are.  The 6th best team in England.

There is a vast gulf between us  M.City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal/Tottingham.  One of those teams will probably have a mare and finish 8th with West Ham finishing 7th

We will be 4/5  despite Rogers

It's about the players we have..

Not the

Ahh, thats only true if we DO replicate that and on the evidence of the last few seasons we wont, the opening 13 fixtures only throw up 4 against "top 6" clubs so a relatively easy run in theory which obvs wont continue, I'd suggest we will need not 15 but 20+ points from the first 10 bearing in mind the difficult matches to come from fixture 14 onwards.

I have no expectations this season because l have no idea how we will play!

Are we gonna play people in their best positions this season ?

Is Youri gonna be here and if so will he perform?

I do know that we need a very strong start because any slips in the Brentford game are gonna sound the alarm bells and confidence could quickly ebb away.

If the often dire football of last season is repeated this season l may choose to:

1.take to drink

2. Fly regularly on a 737 max.

3.go watch Fo**st.

...... In that order

(ok not the last one).

Couldn't disagree more with every word bud but l respect your opinion just the same.

Success is all about the bloke in charge or did Shankly, Ferguson, Ancelotti, Guardiola, Clough, Wenger, Mourinho etc. Just get lucky?

Not only do I disagree with him but I also don't respect his opinion - it is entirely typical of someone who has made their mind up and refuses to consider any evidence to the contrary.
