I'm a big critic but he's set the narrative of a rebuild so, as supporters, we allow that. Both O'Neill and Little needed a rebuild and they delivered exceptional football and success. So too did Pearson. We accept there needs to be systemic change so we allow for that. If it doesn't happen then he needs to get gone. But whilst he's saying what we're seeing then we support. And we know that Rodgers is renowned for his rebuilds and nous in the transfer market. 🙄 2

Guest nathan. Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 I feel like Rodgers needs a very impressive start to the season. If after 10 games we are in the bottom half hes gone.

It gives a new manager a few weeks’ training time with players not going to the WC and a few weeks’ thinking time ahead of the transfer window. It also leaves 22 games which is ordinarily enough time to make a decent attempt at salvaging a season. I think we’ll see 3 or 4 managerial changes at that point. Agreed and given our track record with duds from Southampton. It must make a newly sacked Hasenhuttle odds on favourite to be our new manager in November. 😂😂😂😂

Sampson Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 (edited) I still don’t know why people make out Rodgers has 100% of the control over transfers as a way to criticise him, he doesn’t have anything close to it. We’ve not operated that way as a club since Sven. We’re not giving “Rodgers” the rebuild job and relying on his nous in the transfer market, we’re giving our recruitment team the rebuild job and relying on their nous in the transfer market. Virtually no top flight job gives their manager that control to dictate all the signings anymore. Edited 18 June 2022 by Sampson 2

Could quickly turn quite restless I think. Even more of a reason to lean the sqaud down, add 6 quality players like has stated. It would be ironic if the club don't get the players he's after and he can't mould the first 11 during the tough first half a dozen games.
foxfanazer Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 He should be under pressure but I just don't get the impression he is unfortunately 1

I'll be amazed if it ends up being anything like that this summer. Could see later moves but I can see it being similar to last summer - numbers wise anyway. We need to just sell some of them. Take the hit. Don't we pay over £100k a week combined to Mendy and Choudhury? It's daft. 1

mozartfox Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 I got 6-1 from Betfair that there will be a Rogers In-Out poll up and running on FT after the Brentford game. 3

Could quickly turn quite restless I think. I've been saying that since we lost to Forest as it had become clear we were already writing the season off domestically. It was almost it's own tragi-comedy as we witnessed the same deja vu set piece goals and an injury every other game. People just accepted we were having one of those seasons. If the same shit starts again, especially the set pieces, he might not make it to the break. We could hire a manager on half the money to finish 12-15th every season. He's here on big money to actually compete for silverware or European qualification. He can spout out all the over-achieving nonsense he likes but he knows the club's aims and he knows he didn't leave Celtic to come here and compete with Brighton, Saints & Palace.
hackenbacker Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 I know how he must feel. In my household I am 3rd favourite. My wife definitely treats our two boys better than me. 1
honeybradger Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 As one of the more outspoken Rodgers outers i dont see what the point is in holding onto the negativity of last season into this season. Clearly the owners thinks Rodgers is worth backing so I'm going to try and get behind him because of that. Even if we start the next season poorly i dont see why we would sack him considering how much we've supported him 1

fox_up_north Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 Did he really do the envelope thing at Liverpool?
Weller 7 Posted 18 June 2022 Posted 18 June 2022 The Celtic fans must be laughing there heads off at how well they get into so many of your heads when Rodgers arrived with us.

There are quite a few in all honesty. His third season at Celtic our football regressed from the high intensity, high pressing, enthralling football we became used to in his first season particularly to pedestrian, sideways stuff. Pretty sure the same happened in his third season at Liverpool too, I'll need to check that one out so don't quote me. Due to the events of the prior summer transfer window and our domestic dominance it felt by this point Rodgers had hit his ceiling with us and he knew this and it was widely accepted that this would have been his last season at the club, no one expected him to leave just over half way into the season of course. Not saying that will happen with him here but I get the feeling he may have hit his ceiling with Leicester for now. The three year thing is interesting as that's his last 3 clubs in the third season things have tailed off a bit. I know it's early days still this season but just going on what's gone on so far. I guess the shelf life of a manager these days at most clubs is around that length so maybe that's not surprising all that much. Obviously it's very early to judge the players brought in, in the summer there so I could be jumping the gun on this one but there are parallels with his transfer business latterly at Celtic. Like I said I think he hit a ceiling with Celtic and most of the players brought in in the last couple of windows didn't work out and never improved the first IX. I wouldn't blame Rodgers solely for that though, there were a number of reasons for that, one the idiot (Congerton) and two at that point our next progression was to be a last 16 champions league side and to get players to get us there and who were already better than what we had the club had to go to the next level in terms of transfer fees and we never done that. I feel there are parallels with Leicester now in that sense, the level of player to improve the existing squad or to even stand still and stay a top 6 side in the EPL is now a level above the players typically brought in and typically will cost even more money and maybe that's why with guys like Soumare, Daka, etc are maybe not an improvement of the first IX, yet anyway. Like I said previously I caveat this with the fact these guys are just in the door and it's unfair to judge them so early. 2
