Missing the point,

to say it was personal implies Soyuncu was playing at his “prime levels” that was about 18 months to 2 seasons ago. He turned into a car crash and got progressively worse after the euros. Hence being second fiddle to Amartery.

He has made mistake, after mistake in various guises in every game and it’s WHY the question has to be asked about getting in a better option in the summer.

 

He’s clearly got qualities but would be happier if he’s our third choice CB.

Just answered your question that Soyuncu was clearly good for most of the season to make it into the PL team of the year.

 

Faes on the other hand has had more poor games than good for us this season 🤷🏻‍♂️

Perhaps some have overreacted, but I stand by my point. It doesn’t mean I’m not happy to have signed Faes, I would just liked to have seen more of Cags this season, because Faes is no better!

Gary Neville made a good point about him - he seems to have this urge to always win the ball back. Sometimes no challenge is a smarter option than constantly diving in. Far too erratic - you can’t have that when you play a high line.

But Faes has also never got close to reaching those high levels for a sustained period of matches.

 

One very good game this side of the WC against Spurs doesn’t change that.

 

I’m not saying to sell/get rid but definitely can improve our CB options in the summer with him being the first CB to get dropped IMO.
