JJB Sports.

Recommended Posts

A random topic. JJB Sports has not been around since 2012, however I still have good memories of going into their stores ages ago. Does anyone else miss JJB? If so did you have any good memories. Surprisingly one of my relatives managed a JJB Sports store till the day it closed.

I have very happy memories of working there.

and the big one in leicester city centre was great. basketball court, putting greens already been mentioned.

back when sports shops were decent and not just full of any old tat aka sports direct dot com

It was a good shop, you could get everything in there.

All sections had the top of the range stuff, down to budget entry lever gear. From trainers, bikes, golf equipment, tennis racquets...the lot.

Nowadays, Sports Direct and Decathlon mostly stock a load of shite.

If you want to physically look at some decent gear now, you generally have to go out of your way to a specialist. Which is a bit of a pain.

Also generally more expensive.

Do miss JJB sports. Shame they went out of business. They used to be everywhere and had huge stores. In Peterborough we only had 2 and they were both quite small. One on the high street and one in brotherhoods.

JJB city kits 04/05 were the pits back then but i put them on now and they're not too bad.

The white with teal and black sash away(or third) was sensational though. I had it in Long Sleeve with 6 on the back

I really want to get one of those shirts. I do have one just doesn’t fit me anymore…

That was a class shirt and the colours I'd love us to use regular for our away kits.

I've still got one at home with 'McCarthy 5' on the back lol

lol I'm sure I had McCarthy on the back of my yellow one.

The away kits of that period were brilliant.

Me and @Rain Kinghave had a conversation before about working there, not at the same time though.

Shirt printing was always fun. On a big kit release day you'd be in there all day.

The machine came in pretty handy for ironing my shirts just before my shift started too!

Yep shirt printing was my job too. Was a nightmare for someone who wears contact lenses, my eyes were constantly drying up.

Hated it when Chelsea signed Shevchenko, I must have spent the whole 8 hours of one shift printing shirt after shirt with his name on. Having to cut each letter by hand and get it to line up and look good.

Had someone wanting it on a baby kit, it would have had to be done in a full circle around the back of the shirt to fit it on.
