I think there was a bit more then ‘a few comments’. He was getting dogs abuse after that photo of him out with his mrs on the day of one of our games

Completely disagree with the abuse comments, but it wasn't just "one of our games" it was relegation day and he had been left out of the squad, I did read at the time though that the "protocol" at Leicester is that players are expected to attend the game even when left out of the squad, whether that's true or not i'm not sure. But in a relegation match you'd assume he would be there to support.
The abuse he got was way too far though, but let's not pretend that he didn't know exactly what he was doing.

Right now you're completely right, if he left today and we ended up with Skipp and Soumare as the 2 I don't think we will go up, with Winks in the squad I think we can. 90k a week is a lot of money though.

The ideal would be for us as a club (aware this is naive) to start afresh, drop the hate and get behind all the players, no matter our views.

but honestly I think too many fans are angry, bitter and ****ed off with life in general and the many **** ups at LCFC. We want to be angry and want someone to blame. I was having the same discussion with my 16 year old son in SK1 on Sunday, seeing pure hate from “fans” to some of our players, is where we are at, sadly.

But yes I’d still keep winks 👌

Maybe as others have said his wife is settled where they are. Maybe he has a good family support network where he lives? I don’t know…

but post above off “his family should just move up here” or “he can afford 5 houses” is bonkers.

I think he is to important for us this Season to let go.

He also needs to do the same, that’s the issue. He needs to treat it as a fresh start. He is the best midfielder we have and if he performs he can do whatever the **** he wants.

If he pulls on the blue shirt gives 100% he or any other player I will back. I won’t ever boo at games.

This never made any sense though. If time away from the family was the reason he refused to stay overnight at the club, why was he purposely choosing to spend so many hours driving?
If spending time with the family was priority, you'd buy a house 10 minutes from Seagrave.

But saying 'I refuse to spend an extra 12-14 hours at Seagrave I have a young child' whilst simultaneously choosing to spend somewhere around that amount of time driving every week, the maths were not mathing and it came across as an easy excuse. Move to Leicestershire, live 10 minutes away, problem solved.

Maybe he didn't want to relocate his family. School, extended family, businesses etc.

What if he has it in his contract to stay where he is. And suddenly RVN told him to get to Segrave on X day.

We don't really know anything. What I do see however is, HW looks unhappy.

Im not disagreeing that he was crap last season like pretty much the entire squad. Im saying the abuse he got after Ruud threw him under the bus is probably why he seems fractious atm. Think the slate just needs to be cleaned and we start again

I agree regarding having a clean slate completely, I don't care about what happened before, as it stands I believe we need him if we are going to have a chance of going up.

It’s not really that easy though is it. You are at work, you have a kid, your boss says work away for a week, you aren’t a millionaire are you really going to risk your job? Take employers to court etc…no because you aren’t an entitled bellend. You do what you have to do to survive and provide. Footballers will never understand that. Would I have loved to have been home everyday off course but I would also have had to quit work as the job that needed doing was away from home, much like when you play for Leicester city it’s reasonable to expect to spend sometime in errrr Leicester.

You just sound jealous tbh

Be interesting to know if he wants to be here still! Certainly played well in his two cameo appearances but you would if you knew clubs were looking at you !

He shouldn't really be unhappy. Getting paid to PLAY football. He needs to read up on some history of the world and see what people did (and still do) to earn a crust.

Maybe, he gets paid millions of quid to play a ****ing game a few times a week whilst the rest of us graft hard to afford a 500 quid ticket to watch him sulk. Do I expect to see a bit of commitment from players representing my city? - yes and I won’t apologise for that.

You have a really naive view if you believe having wealth means humans cannot be unhappy.

Given how Soumare and Skipp have started the season, i'd be tempted to play Ricardo as a CM alongside winks and not as an inverted full back.

I think all of our midfielders would benefit and probably play better with Ricardo inverting to support them and free one up to advance forward more often.

Maybe you got to spend more time with your newborn than a serviceman serving away in conflict like Afghanistan for 6 months. It’s all relative, but you won’t hear many servicemen comparing themselves with you and the luxuries you may have over them.

The military is a different ball game. At the end of the day everyone knows what they signed up for. On joining the military you know you may travel to potential war or on tour. You are still entitled to paternity, not sure how that works in the military or how soon you can leave. My job involves work away for an international company. I know this I can choose to quit should I really dislike it. There are times you do what you have to do to provide, obviously people have different views on what and what isn’t acceptable.

I kind of feel it’s not unreasonable when being a well paid player for Leicester city to be requested to stay a few nights away in Leicester if required by your manager. The point being I don’t think it’s particularly unreasonable for an employer to request stuff whoever they are if the legal requirements have been met. To me getting stroppy when you have made the decision to commute 4hrs is silly. He just needs to crack on. It’s the entitlement that bothers me.

Anyway it’s done now, he also needs to start afresh. Again if he’s performing on the pitch no one can really say anything. If he doesn’t want to be here he knows where the M1 is.

Agree in the main…

Though no one (when joining the military) really thinks about when we will have children, and how will we cope being away for months on end, or how being away could impact our relationships.

With Winks I’m sure he does spend nights away, particularly away games and pre season training camps. None of us know the true ins/outs of winks dynamic with Ruud. Maybe he was trying to make a point?

we all agree though a fresh start is needed.

I don't think he's talking about depression or anything, he's talking about players being visibly unhappy with the terms of their unemployment when compared to most of us they are very privileged. Winks does come across as pretty spoiled and thin-skinned to be honest.

Thing with him is that we just don't have anyone whose as good as him in that attacking midfield position

With his arrogance he'll start thinking he's irreplaceable as a starter.

The rest of the players are just squad numbers, shame can't even see them displacing him 🙁

Had a right cob on last night didnt he.

To be fair, wouldn’t you. It’s not as if he’s blurted out his side of any story. Circumstances have meant management and some fans have ripped him a new asshole.

Always back yourself. I would not be surprised if there is more to the winks story than we currently know. It’s odd most fans back Ruuds side.

Rubbish. His one child has only just been born so school isn’t an issue at all! Even if he was allowed to live where he wants because of extended family it’s incumbent upon him to be where he’s wanted and at the time required!

Likewise, in such a job as his, it’s not unreasonable for him to be asked to stay in the equivalent of a 5 star hotel overnight once a fortnight to save travelling and be fresh to do his job properly as well as team bonding issues. He’s being paid £80,000+ a bloody week for Christ's sake the big selfish baby! I wasn’t earning half of that a year and I managed it with 2 kids, travelling to different parts of the country with extended hours and overnight stops. It’s what normal people do to earn a living let alone any loyalty to the job. I don’t know why people try to make excuses for the pampered little shit!
