The 27-year-old is in demand this summer, following his side’s Championship title triumph under the stewardship of Vincent Kompany. Brownhill had been a vital component of The Claret’s successful season, having captained the team for much of the campaign. However, the recently promoted side have added 25-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge from Sheffield  United, who started ahead of his teammate for their opening Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

With less than a year remaining on his contract and seemingly relegated to a spot on the bench, a departure from the club seems likely despite his manager hoping to keep him as part of the squad. With the window closing in a matter of weeks, it could be one of the last opportunities the club have to receive a fee for a player who is still a highly saleable asset.

Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be at the head of the pack, and likely to make an approach for the player, with recently appointed Gary O’Neil eagerly wanting to make improvements ahead of the fast approaching deadline. Fellow Premier League sides Everton and Crystal Palace are also keen alongside Championship sides Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Leicester City who will all be targeting promotion to the top flight this season

Brownhill has appeared 133 times for Burnley since joining in January 2020 also contributing ten goals in all competitions. He has also been on the books of Bristol City, Preston North End, Barnsley as well as the Manchester United Academy.

With his contract situation, nor his starting spot guaranteed this season, at 27 years old Brownhill will be wanting to make the most of his prime footballing years. Several clubs have seemingly detected an opportunity to obtain the services of a highly talented midfielder, with leadership qualities for a cut price fee. Sander Berge will likely start the majority of games having just been brought in, is a year on the sidelines what he wants?

This would be a superb signing - he is dynamic and already spent a year playing the Kompany way which is similar to Enzo - great character, leader and would be excellent - anyone not getting this needs their nogging looking at - be a coup if we got him !

Settle down.

He is a good squad player but he will not be a Coup if we got him.

Would he be cover/rotation for Winks or the no8 positions?

Definitely if it is for, Winks, I’m not convinced we need another 27 year old to cover for the clearly first choice 27 year old we have there. Surely a young signing would be more beneficial.

Obviously a good player at this level but we could do with mixing it up a bit.
