Even if this is the case, its an absolute shambles that this hasn't been discovered/sorted earlier.

It has been pretty clear this player was/is our manager's number one target. There's been no serious mention of any other player. The fact that we've been negotiating for weeks and have left it until now when I can't really grasp why this wasn't sorted out days ago is indicative of either level of incompetence or non full disclosure.

But you're right in what you say.

Did we really run the numbers again on deadline day and go “yeah isn’t going to work is it”. Laugh or cry territory with everything we do

This says that the deal has hit the rocks because Leicester have “less margin than they thought for Financial Fair Play”. If that is true, and we only just realised this, the club fully deserve the anger and frustration of the fans on this one. Sheer incompetence, if true.

As others have said - surely Rudkin is aware of any legal issues before entering into negotiations. If this falls through supporters need to ask why has our DofF been away on the p!ss when legal issues needed sorting out.

he's a DoF not a lawyer - i'd be very surprised if they don't have a legal team involved at this stage - we're talking about million pound deals and super complex FFP rules.

I think everyone is massively oversimplifying these things.

Thats the nearest I think any journo has got near the truth. Think it will go through now but that it’s taken 30 days and 23 hours to either realise we didn’t have to sell a player after or we have finally got rid of a player. Well it’s something isn’t it.
You’ve pissed plenty of time up the wall.

"Oh that was supposed to be a minus symbol? I pressed plus the other day"

Something it appears however a lot of clubs have managed to get a grasp of it.

Is it not possible that the original plan was that we'd sell someone and that the sudden recalculation is because we're trying to find a way to do this with out selling anyone?

Correct but he's the director of football with overall responsibility for the football side of the club. A remit which includes recruitment. He may not be a lawyer himself but he's paid to oversee things. I can't say I have a huge amount of confidence in him but let's see.

But he's supposed to be experienced at doing transfers. It's not like it's his first year in the job and to cap it all, why is he away on some jolly at the end of January, when, along with August, it's the most hectic time of the year. I fail to understand how people can try and justify his incompetence. I don't hear of this lack of forethought in any other club.
