We wouldn't, we'd bend over and take it. They'd introduce a small tax to start with and it would increase yearly.

Isn't much fight in this country to do anything sadly.

Spring Budget 2024: Fuel duty cut extended (fleetworld.co.uk)

Just pointing out a fact. No political bias involved.

How high is it?

£1 - 0mg/ml

£2 - up to 11mg/ml

£3 - 12mg/ml to 20mg/ml

Which punishes new quitters who tend to favour a MTL draw the most. Complete ignorance on display here. It’s a shit sin tax.

as it has always been.

the distinction between the two parties is what they do with the money they take...

One is more predicated on the betterment of society in general... the other is about driving free enterprise and protecting the wealthier end of society.

my personal preference is the betterment of society as a whole, but I absolutely understand those who want to be entrepreneurs and generate their own wealth, so that they aren't reliant on state support.

I'm of the opinion that government should be their to protect those that are most needing and vulnerable in society.... but i "think" that makes me part of this woke blob that they talk about.... not sure what that actually means!

I'm not sure you can even make this distinction anymore, even it were true in the first place.  I would personally characterize the conservative view as encouraging wealth creation for the betterment of all, capitalism as the best method of lifting everyone up, whereas socialism would prefer a more equal society and is fine is the poorest are less well-off overall as long as they are not so far behind everyone else.  That said I think both have gone wrong inasmuch as the inequality has reached unacceptable levels and conservatives have failed to react, and the left are no longer really socialist at all, but just seem to want to drive equality through more tax and spend and drive their vote through the politics of envy. Both then are pushing the populace towards lower levels of happiness despite never having been richer by any measure.

Rishi Sunak on Jeremy Vine today, avoiding the questions on non-dom status and the frozen tax threshold.

Weasel of a man, leading weasels in his party.

Disgraceful bunch of self serving greedy pigs at the trough.

If he's hoping the budget will deflect from  the way the Tories have behaved towards the general population during their tenure, he's wrong. People won't forget it.

Can't stand any of them but I did actually benefit with the change of child benefit. It's stupid it's based on per income rather than per household and I'm glad it's being looked at (apparently)

So in theory we as a family can now claim child benefit again for now.

But overall if they wanted to swing this vote back to them they have failed miserably.

Problem where I live ( Hinckley & Bosworth) there is too many that will still vote Tory and they will remain around here. No chance any one else gets in here.

Isn't the Borough Council LibDem? But then the same people do not vote for them in the GE's.

Dr Luke Evans (Conservative) is apparently popular in the rural areas. Not difficult after the weasel Tredinnick.

Yep council is majority libdem but some Tory. But yeah the MP hasn't changed from Tory for years (if ever) but yeah Bosworth is very pro Tory and all the surrounding villages.

Dr Luke has an office in Hinckley and according to the shop next door they have never seen him in there as he still lives in London.

OK...   here are my musings...

1)  tax thresholds are NEVER a given to go up or down; so...   shut it Labour

2) the latest NI drop has given me £32 extra per month  ON TOP of the one that came in January-  so that's £64 extra in my pocket.

3) Council tax has gone up by £10 per month

Net gain £54 per month.

RUDDERS- THIS IS SIMPLE MATHS!!!

That is NOT to say I will be voting Tory

Yeh, there’s nothing more impressive than a white male multi millionaire who has the largest housing portfolio in parliament have a go at a working class single mum who bought and later sold a council house. What a man. What a warrior. What a cvnt.

About then, when questioned about it by Peston, didn't want to discuss his own housing affairs, as its "personal affairs".

I’ve seen him waiting in the local GP surgery a couple of times (as a patient, not as the local MP) so I assume he lives up here now.

He’s certainly an improvement on David “astrology will save the NHS” Tredinnick, but so would my dog. If in practice we actually voted for our local MP rather than who we want in government I’d consider voting for him based on the interaction I’ve had and what I’ve heard from others locally, but I’ll probably vote Lib Dem as they have the best chance of unseating the Conservatives locally.

Unlikely IMO. Local Gov have been LibDem for a while now and that's down to local issues. Voting in a GE will be mostly the rural Conservatives voting Tory. Take into account the number of villages within the H&B area and the number of Tory voters in those places that CBA to vote in the locals, that will come out and vote in the GE.

How do you think Tredinnick got in so often?

Unfortunately I agree, while I think the Lib Dems would have the best chance of unseating the Tories I don't think they will. I'm in one of those extremely rural villages and can't see many voting anything other than Tory. I was talking with one of the local farmers recently who still parrots the "Boris did a great job" line...

I grew up in Market Bosworth and in my 42 years, it's never been anything other than Conversative............

IF it falls to another party, it will be a seismic result for the GE and the Tories will be effectively wiped out across the country.

I just cant' see H&B ever being anything other than conservative, much to my disdain!

Given Labour came second last time and the Tory vote is going to collapse, Labour are best placed to win.
