I'm honestly so excited to see what both leagues try and do.

Could you possibly script/write the verdict?..

The Premier League couldn’t touch us for 22/23 as we’d already transferred our ‘golden share’ and therefore were not a Premier League club by the end of the accounting window,  as we’d shifted it from end of May to end of June.

For the 23/24 season we were a Championship club, though unless we changed the accounting window back to end of May, we’d have got our ‘golden share’ back and there’d be a 2 week window in which we’d technically be a Premier League club in the 23/24 season.

So we will have to be creative again and have a strong argument for it, cos both leagues have acted disgracefully and won’t care if they’re in the wrong or not.

Surely if it’s two weeks, theres nothing they can do? Surely they will have to wait until we have been a PL team for an amount of time?  I fully expect them to announce we’ve breached though regardless of the rules.

They will try anything, they've already proven that. They will absolutely want to use our own argument against us. They also have previous when it comes to making statements regardless of the facts: https://www.lcfc.com/pages/en/media-article/LCFC-Statement-21-March-2024

We are losing a shed load of money again this year by the looks of it.

We're so poorly run it's frightening

From what I read the contracts we gave out in the championship summer were still pretty high wages, not fitting for the league we were in.

Don't worry, am sure Man City will get automatic relegation anyway with their own case..

That was the championship season, hasn’t we already established that the EPL can’t touch us for that!

23/34 breach?

Jeez, that's 11 years of future punishment.

They must be expecting Rudkin to stay and are predicting his incompetence.

FADE IN:

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

A packed courtroom.

At the front are two desks - the defence and the prosecution side.

The doors at the back of the room open. In walks THE DEFENCE: NICK DE MARCO (50s, suave),  JON RUDKIN (50s, sheepish; wearing a full LCFC training tracksuit), ROBERT HUTH (40s, intimidating), BEPPE DE MARCO OFF EASTENDERS (50s, terrible goatee) walk down the aisle and take their seats.

The doors open again - four solemn looking souls trundle in. THE PROSECUTION: RICK PARRY (late 60s), RICHARD MASTERS (middle aged, looks like a Tory MP), ZIPPY OFF RAINBOW (ageless) and LIZ TRUSS (50s, actually mental) walk down the aisle to their table. Liz puts her lettuce downs on the desk as they all take their seats too. They all take up a menacing glare at their opponents.

The CLARK walks in.

CLARK

All rise.

Everyone gets to their feet.

Through a side door, JUDGE JUDY enters and sits down at her desk. She shuffles some documents around.

JUDGE JUDY

Morning everyone.

Everyone sits.

JUDGE JUDY

So.

She smiles.

JUDGE JUDY

As I understand it, Premier League and EFL, your argument seems to be entirely based on the poker episode of Only Fools and Horses where Del Boy said to Boycie, "I knew you was cheating Boycie. Cos that wasn't the hand I dealt you". Is that correct?

Shock on the prosecution bench.

RICK PARRY

(tearful)

NO!

JUDGE JUDY

Silence! Whereas Leicester City, your entire argument can only be summed up as, "Whoops".

Nods on the Leicester City bench.

JUDGE JUDY

And by your own admission, the Premier League and EFL, your own laws are poorly written.

ZIPPY

YES YOUR HONOUR.

Judy sighs.

JUDGE JUDY

Then I'm afraid I have only one option. I have to find in favour of--

--------------

That's as far as I've got.

If someone can be bothered to do the Foxestalk Gear End Awards, this gets my vote for post of the year.

This is exactly how I read it.

The rules are a mess.

We are a mess.

Manchester City are a mess.

Chelsea are a mess.
Manchester United are a mess.

Nottingham Forest are a mess.

Everton are a mess.

Aston Villa are a mess.

Newcastle are a mess.

The league is a mess.

The Premier League are inflicting self harm on themselves by having such an inconsistent approach to how it’s dealing with all of this.

Yet, we are all owned by billionaires.

It’s a truly crazy situation that needs sorting out, otherwise clubs will up going under.

The rules they implement to protect clubs, will ultimately kill some.

It’s the most hideous situation I think I’ve ever seen.

The thing is, football has been a billionaire’s play thing for 25+ years. Trying to implement rules once the horse has bolted, is like trying to enforce making it illegal to use your mobiles phones for payments in a McDonalds drive thru.

It’s also anti competitive.

So many business generate cash and pump money into themselves to compete, stay in business and grow.

If businesses were penalised with the severity a points deduction has on a business for running at a loss, we’d have no Apple, no AirBnB, no Disney, no Starbucks, no Lego, no Marvel,  no Netflix, no Ford, no Converse, no Nintendo. It’s basically a death sentence if we got another this season. Teams like Brentford, Brighton, West Ham are all one bad transfer window away from ending up like we did.

If they want a more balanced league, they’d be better introducing a draft, wage cap or transfer cap. However everyone would revolt as that’s just not going to work.

No

we are on a three year rolling assessment re psr (irrespective of which league we are in )

we got out of the previous likely breach by moving our accounting period back so that when we were a PL club our accounts hadn’t been finalised to end year 3. We ceased to be a PL club early June and our accounts didn’t close till end June. So we successfully argued that the Pl couldn’t charge us for those accounts cos we were an efl club at the point that the accounts ended. The efl could charge us but by the time the case was heard, we were no longer an efl club.  So they technically can still charge us for that breach.  At end June 24 we were an pl club and therefore the pl can charge us for losses to end June 2024.   Most of us assumed that we’d met PSR by selling kdh and getting the money for enzo.  Maybe we didn’t . We will find out early feb (although I reckon it leaks in jan)

There's no point worrying about it, really.

Even if there's a possible points deduction, the club can probably protest it; and hence any appeal will mean it could temporarily postpone any points penalty for a good while.

It would work, but the biggest clubs would throw a hissy fit as they lose a lot of advantage they get from their higher spending limits, likewise the advantages established clubs have over promoted clubs, and parachute clubs over championship.

PSR is the root of all of it.

The sport so desperately needs a regulator.
