Bassey left because he didn’t see a pathway to the first team. He was ready to play first team football and Luke Thomas jumped ahead of him and we had strong CB’s at the time which meant he was unlikely to get games. He left and we now regret it. It’s the same reason Trey left the club, we aren’t doing a good enough job of blooding our youngsters.

When did you speak to him?

Louis Page scored the winner for England U17s tonight vs Netherlands.

Feel like we have a real crop coming though, we need a manager who will embrace it.

Didn't we also say to him we seen him as a CB and he had no interest of playing there? Wanted to be a left back.

Surely after 5 homes games without scoring he can't go with the Vardy, Ayew, Reid combo.

First there was was MSN now we have VAR.......:ermm:

He played both LB and CB for the U23/U21, from people I’ve spoke to the issue for him was we had Chilwell and Fuchs at LB, we brought JJ in the summer before he left who could play RB and LB then Thomas jumped ahead of him in the first team at LB too in that final season before he left on a free. At CB he was never getting a look in ahead of Morgan, Maguire, Evans and Soyuncu during his spell at the club and then we brought in Fofana, so he left to get first team opportunities at Rangers.

If we had stayed on the same trajectory as a club we wouldn’t be ruing him leaving but in hindsight with how the last few years have gone and who we’ve now got stinking out the place in our back line, he’d play week in, week out.

Playing Derby tonight.

Interesting to see if Evans has recovered from his knock, hoping to see Monga back in the XI too.

Wildcard possibility of Ricky P getting half an hour this monday or next, they did it with Jakub ahead of his return.

Also unrelated, but I wish they left tickets on sale day of the game. Was going to make a late call tonight, they're digital tickets anyway, why on earth do they need to take them off a day before?

Clearly it would only be troublemakers who are buying tickets on the day!

Am I right in thinking Evans is a right winger not a striker?

I was just thinking, would Monga, Evans and Alves play different positions (I.e Evans right, Alves centre and Monga left or do they play the same side?

Can play RW and upfront, Alves can play either wing or the 10 as he's shown at Cardiff and Monga can play anywhere LW, RW and CAM

Play all 3 at once and just let them do what they like

It's something we've never done really had fluid wingers who can swap wings

Ok, as I thought with Monga and Alves. Hopefully we can work on converting Evans to being more a striker as this is an area we have less joy with in the transfer market.

We've got Josh King whose playing tonight who can play upfront and Lorenz Hutchinson for the under 18's whose banging then in ATM

We waste cups so badly, because Id love to see the 3 of them with fatawu and have any sense of an idea how good the players are.

Alves is doing well for Cardiff, we knew he was that good, but we wouldn’t start him against Tranmere.  We’ve wasted cup integration for years, but in years where you don’t genuinely have a chance of winning, it’s baffling.

But we should be so thankful Ayew and mcateer could take that winning energy into a loss against villa 💀
