Jake Evans not even nominated despite being 1 goal behind the top scorer and by far the youngest player at the top of the scoring charts. Similar/better output to Nwaneri last year at the same age I believe who no doubt will have been nominated or even won this last year. Pathetic.

I’m glad tbh. Keep him quiet for as long as possible

He's getting minutes in the premier league as a 16 year old. I dont think him being in the PL2 player of the season list determines whether he goes under the radar or not.

Evans overlooked as Page gets England call

The shortlist for the Premier League 2 player of the season has been published and City forward Jake Evans can perhaps count himself unfortunate not to have been included among the eight nominees.

The 16-year-old scored 10 goals in 12 starts in the regular season, with only Chelsea’s Donnell McNeilly, who is nominated, scoring more non-penalty goals. Evans also scored for City in the first round of the play-offs, in their 5-3 aggregate defeat to Southampton.

Perhaps it’s good news for City though, that such an obvious talent is not getting as much exposure as he should be doing for his record at such a young age.

There’s no place for either Evans or Jeremy Monga in the England Under-17s squad for the European Championships later this month, although that’s perhaps so they can remain with City and continue to feature in Premier League matches.

The club will have representation at the tournament though with box-to-box midfielder Louis Page included in the squad. He’s been a regular in the team through qualifying.

But one player has already been successful. Defender Ben Grist, loaned to Worksop Town in January, helped the club win promotion to the National League North as they beat Guiseley 2-1 in the play-off final.

They made it a double a few days later, lifting the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup.

If we hire the right manager we could have 10 academy players in the first team squad next season.

GK: Stolarczyk

RB: Aluko

CB: Nelson

LB: Thomas

LB: Mirsad Ali

CM: Braybrooke/Page/Cartwright

CAM: Alves

RW: McAteer

LW: Monga

ST: Evans

When’s it time for a new thread for the new season?

Is it normally after the HK 7s it gets created?

if this club thinks so highly of its youth players etc, theyve got to start giving them more chances, not 5 mins here and there

look at Barca(im not comparing us to at all to them, its an example) they always blood a good number

this club needs too if they think so highly of them

Because they’re usually winning and have the quality around, as well as the breathing space to give the players a chance.

Remember even though our young players may be training well, they’re training against Leicester City players….

Totally forgot about Amani Richards.

Does anyone who's seen a lot of him play think he's got the ingredients to make it here? It seems he's gone off the boil a bit and not had the best loan spell away, which usually signifies not. But Kasey McAteer surprised everyone after indifferent loans at Forest Green and Wimbledon and came straight into the side and hit the ground running.

Could we be thinking of Richards as a decent first-team squad member in two or three years time?

He struggled a lot when he came back from his loan. The quality difference between him and Monga/Evans is quite clear and they are both significantly younger

U21 have been an absolute shambles out in Hong Kong for the sevens. Given the squad taken I thought they would be winning it.

3rd in the group, sent through to the Mickey Mouse phase. Lost to HK rangers in the knock out.

only one who made an impression for me was Kevon gray. Will be handy at CB for u21 level next season. Mirsad Ali was ok, everyone else honking over the 4 games

No Evans or Monga across the England U17 and U19 squads for their respective euros is pretty farcical. Both are ready to go up an age group or two given their seasons.

Forest Green was his first taste of "Proper" football For McAteer and the Wimbledon loan was very good .

Loan from January and Played around 20 games i think.

Jonnie Jackson gave him a special mention at the end of his loan.

Hardly indifferent....?
