I know there’s been a lot of comments about how we “acquired” monga, but anyone know much about his and Evans stories?

 

Be good to know if Seagrave is starting to see us get kids from Notts and other midlands catchments areas (or even further afield!)

Monga has been with us for many many years so Seagrave isn't the causation of him coming here. Not sure about Evans but I suspect he's also been here since a very early age.

Yes plays either flank but predominantly a RB.

Watched him vs Cov and he's very busy and got technical ability. But too early in what I've seen of him to be 100% confident on his ability but looks very promising. He's very well thought of, could be the best of the lot, who knows.

This may be a little harsh... As I've only read your comment. I am not searching for further misinformation.

 

The facts are:

 

The club (Academy) back in 2013 was based at Belvior drive.

We can scout a 60 minute travel time from this postcode.

Jeremy is from Coventry.

He may have signed at 9, but he started training, (like many) with us when he was 6-7.

Everything at the academy is done by the rules, this comes from the top. If your looking for complaints look at how our rivals operate!

We beat our rivals to his signature.

He is very very naturally gifted.

The Academy coaches developed him over many seasons.

He has excelled so that other clubs are interested in him, also the national team!

He was on the bench at Old Trafford at 15....

If I had to design a perfect job by the club, this is it.

 

Yet there are still a few looking for areas to complain, where there are much easier targets to find far more deserving.

Surely the perfect job is him contributing to the first team on the pitch? 

Then in terms of business of the club, all the hard work put into him isn't fully "worth" unless he signs a professional contract, which looks incredibly unlikely

We’ve done nothing to be criticised on with monga.  It’s the system which stinks and will probably see him leave in the summer and our comp will be v small when set against the upside that the club he goes to has.  

I guess that once our destiny is confirmed we may see him getting some minutes on the pitch to try and bump up that comp.

That's not a measure of the quality of the Academy though that's a reflection on the rules and imbalance of the league. No matter how good the Academy may be we can't compete with those rich 3/4 clubs that have the power of attraction to hoover up the best talent across the leagues.

Sadly the same thing is happening to the Women's game.

Yeah think you might have misread, was genuinely interested to just know when he joined and whether Seagrave has seen us attract players from new areas ahead of others… wasn’t a criticism of the club at all

Brilliant insight. My ill informed opinion is our academy does incredible work through the young age groups and should be immensly proud of the player development, however due to loyalty and stubbornness our older age groups have in the past been neglected in the ambition of getting those players through the final stages of progression to the 1st team.

 

Beaglehole and Peake were there for years at a time that we'd become the flagship midlands club and investment in their replacements as well as snapping up the best young talent from local academies aged 14-17 has not really happened.

 

Each time a U21 boss moves on, we just stick the assistant in temporarily and then just quietly let them do it longer term. Quite possibility sensible with McSweeney given his methods this season and utilising a bunch of the successful title winning U16 squad from last season, but Petty was a waste of time IMO.

If it is, I think it’s excellent. It promotes supporting your local team (something that’s getting increasingly less common now) and also gives the club a greater reason to run more “football in the community” projects, especially for younger kids.

I wonder how many parents of prodigies move house somewhere around the time they are being scouted?
