I think he did.

We have Cannon and Daka , but I can't wait for Jamie to get back, he looked so sharp before his knock in France = I want another goal scorer .

Then play the other striker. Daka doesn’t even know what he is anymore.

In a game that lacked creativity it wasn’t encouraging that Cooper gave minimal minutes to young creative players like Alves and Golding and gave way more minutes to the way less creative Hamza, Soumare and Ndidi. Even if Golding and Alves aren’t going to be starters, you would’ve hoped he would be utilising them in a more creative midfield set up until reinforcements arrive.

…..But then this is the guy that brought Ryan Yates into the Premier League.😬

On this, in friendlies the score doesn't really matter. So, to cut Cooper a bit of slack do you think he was trying out combinations for when we have to be less creative and be more compact and workman-like to frustrate teams instead of being open and susceptible to getting battered by the elite teams in the league?

Mavididi looked good, as did Fatawu but a little erratic. Daka dreadful, Ndidi didn’t impress me much either. Winks decent, Cannon deserved more than 10 minutes. A few nice bits of defending from Okoli, which was nice to see as he was getting some stick earlier in the week.
Don’t even need to dwell any more on this, but I reckon 0-0 had we played Mads for the full game, but it’s understandable given he’s only just returned.

Thomas and Soumare... Reckon we’re stuck with them?

In fairness to Daka the service was non-existent tonight. We do need another striker, but there was nothing for him to work with.

Soumare didn't do enough.

Winks and Fatawu worked hard.

Fair play to Palermo. They worked hard and were a good team. To say they finished well down Italy's second league, I wasn't really expecting that.

Well done to all who travelled. Was hoping for a bit more...some singing. Not easy when, like where I was sat, there were quite a few Chesterfield fans in to watch.

Well done to Vesty for asking the blokes at the front to move, so the kids could get pictures/autographs. Not that they did. More frustrating that they were Wolves/Spurs fans 🤔🤷

There are no more excuses for Daka and Soumare, we have seen what they can do and it’s very little. They were brought in as experienced players, they don’t need two seasons and another pre season to finally come good and learn how to shoot on target or realise they have to do more than plod around the midfield.

the wingers will be fine at this level, its the lack of creativity in midfield and a nuisance of a striker that we need

Exactly. Daka receives the ball in the box and immediately passes it. He actually found himself on the wing a lot of the time.

Tom came on, within a few minutes he charged down the middle to try to intercept the ball, and he would’ve taken a shot had he got it.

I know a lot on here say “the score doesn’t matter”, but we need to hit the ground running, and Daka isn’t the one. It simply cannot be Vardy>Daka>Cannon again. Enzo made this error and it almost cost us the title.

Palermo were playing very deep and very compact. They were frustrating us and our total lack of creativity was clear. Maybe Cooper was demonstrating the need for new signings by playing a creativity free midfield.

He may as well talk to a brick wall.

Yeah that's definitely plausible as well

Mavadidi will be carrying the team and making a lot of things happen.  It would be good to see VK and Mav play together for the rest of the season, the same with Ricardo and Fatawu. JJ barely passes the ball forward on either side and we can’t out our hopes on Vestagaard and Winks passing through the middle and expecting Soumare, Hamza or Ndidi to do anything or quality.

Alves and Golding are young but they seemed to want to progress up the pitch and make something happen when they got the ball.

How did Soumare do?

Jogged around a lot and got in Wink’s way too often. He showed his usual ability,

one or two cross field passes but the rest I wouldn’t even describe as milquetoast.

We need an attacking midfielder and a striker desperately. Can’t be going into games in the PL with Daka or a 38 year-old Vardy (as much as I love him) up top and Ndidi as the attacking midfielder.

Cannon doesn’t convince me and would benefit from a loan if we can afford to let him go.

Everyone loves to hate him, he was fine, him and Winks were trying to do similar things in similar spaces and sometimes felt like they got in each others way a bit. That was the main issue rather than either of them playing badly.

Soumare wasn't rubbish, don't know why people chat like this, was no better or worse than Winks or Ndidi. Played 2 or 3 good switches.

Ndidi got on the end of a cross that was close.

Not a lot happened, it was very much a low intensity training match.

What was the point in giving Cannon, Alves, Nelson and Golding less than 15 minutes in a pre-season game? Golding came on in the 89th minute for ****s sake. Cooper may want additional players but until

they are in the door he’s got to utilise the players we have and make sure they are ready to contribute at the beginning of the season.

My mind boggles at only giving Hermansen 45 minutes as well, he didn’t play a minute in the Euro’s so he hardly needs easing in gently, he needs time to get used to playing with the likes of Coady and Okoli. I know it’s early days but I’m already concerned that this appointment is gonna go tits up.

It would have been lead by the sports scientist, they will advise the manager on how much load to put on each player.

It's simply about managing workload.

Sorry to be blunt but that is pure bollocks. I have a background in sports science. Those lads are all under the age of 22, they have spent their entire lives at professional football clubs, being moulded for professional football. There is no way that they have a training workload so high that they can’t play more than 15 minutes of football in pre-season. That’s the manager not having a clue what to do with the talent he has available because he’d rather have different players.

If you listen to the managers post game interview they are training extra seasons and had a heavy one the day before the game not the standard game day -1 session.
