Whether he was mistreated is up for debate but he did have one bad season.

Community shield wasn’t the season and 8th flattered us massively (it was very tight lower half of the table). It set the wheels in motion, including rolling over in the fa cup. Not qualifying for Europe killed us. Rodgers didn’t meet his targets that year, so it was a bad season.

The Community Shield was the first match of that season. When you play 38 matches your final position never flatters you!

I'm a big fan of Gasperini, he's a great coach, really entertaining football and what he's done there is immense.

 

But they were 5 - 1 down on aggregate with three quarters of the tie played against a team that were just mauling them on the break at every opportunity.

 

Think he had bigger issues than one penalty miss tbh.
