I've said what I thought about Sheehan's overall contribution and if I were the manager I would have been suggesting that he should have closed the space down quicker and the fluke deflection wouldn't have occurred.

But, I've said all along he's gonna need fine tuning. That shouldn't devalue his overall contribution in the first half, his comfort on the ball, his attacking involvement, his constant availability for the crossfield passes, his own varied passes and shots plus the fact that Crewe were barely the flicker of a threat down the right.

Think of the other players. Stearman/Gerrbrand were almost caught out twice by through balls in the first half and had other hiccups, Maybury was hardly faultless or the strikers who missed over 20 shots.

The reason I've argued for Sheehan is that he's a natural left-back with attacking strengths to help maintain our attacks. We dominated posession today so my point is borne out. I never said/implied he was perfect.

Just that he's got so much more to offer than our other options and it showed even today. He almost always looked comfortable on the ball. At least from where I was - and that wasn't very far away at all.

Leics may have dominated the game and well done to hum for scoring yet again. But the truth hurts, our defense concedes when they have little to do, we not scoring against weak teams enough and ultimately fail to make domination count. If we fail to beat millwall I would say craig's time is up, its alright sticking by a manager but not at the cost of relegation.

Our defence was so bad that Crewe hardly got the ball, had about a third of the worthwhile shots we did, which would probably have been about eight - and we had 10 men for half an hour (and that spoke for two of their best shots).

Well I think we just generally have a problem, we lack that little bit extra in the final third. But we have known that for a long time and we know it must be sorted in Januray..... Levein doesn't address that issue properly I think that would be the main reason to call for his P45 not the reasults.

Depends... Generally a Nay I suppouse, is an ok squad player at this level, nver the star striker.

He does alot of positive things for the team. People too quickly concentrate on critising his finishing but he's done well on that lately. I've been impressed with his hold up play no end since he's been playing up front with Hume, certainly better than De Vries, and isn't that meant to be one of his best attributes? His pace is vital.

Well he was robbed of yet another goal today (and we were probably robbed of a win as a result), and his strike partner Hume scored a wonder goal.

Both were outstanding against Sheffield United in the last home game and there partnership seems to have coincided with Leicester playing far more attractive football.

Both he and Hume worked tirelessly in both games and are becoming a force. Hammond's control is not the best but he's improving and so is his shielding of the ball. I'm still quite hopeful.

My concern is that we have no aerial threat anywhere and therefore have no alternative but to play on the floor (and about time in most ways).

We don't even have aerially dominant defenders we can send up for corners/free kicks etc. This wouldn't be so bad if we had a right winger who ever scored or prised defences open or if we had another scoring outfield player, Joey having started to be a genuine threat.

What I hope in January is that Craig increases our striking options, style wise in the centre and by introducing a strike capability in other positions. People like Hume, Hammond and Smith should all benefit from this.

I suppose, as has been touched on, our lack of aerial threat means that good play which often results in an abundance of attacking set pieces are quite often wasted.

Do we need to be a bit cleverer with our corners?

Was he actually robbed of a goal though he looked a good 2 yards off ( along with two other players ) from where i was sitting.

People are quick to critize his finishing beacuse, as a striker, you have to be able to finish. end of.

Not disputing is was a good goal, It's just very far from a wonder goal.

I described it as such because:

a) I've not seen better down here for ages.

b) The time it took to cover half the field before the shot went in

c) Joey's vision in seeing the run

d) Joey's precision pass over 45-yards or so

e) Hume making the width and the flat out run in the first place

f) Hume's instant control on the run

g)His couple of touches and accurate finish from an angle.

That's how I saw it.

I thought Hume's goal was a prime example of what we'd been lacking upfront before he came here. Composure. Great control taking it in his stride and still finished it nicely, that's premiership quality. I was quite impressed with Hammond myself today aswell, great hold up play. Smith was good but he has no right foot, which will go against him later in his career as people will realise that.. when you look at some of the Crewe defenders he was taking on you could look at them even in this match and see the expectation in their eyes trying to cover the left turn/cross. However having said that, he always seemed to get some sort of ball in not that it was regularly of any great quality. I don't really know what to make of Douglas today, I think he did ok, not really much he could have done about the goal in my view, he didnt have a great deal to do really but he came out early to cut off some chances before they got them which is always nice. I think Gerrbrand and Stearman looked both solid and iffy. They both seemed to have lapses every so often where they'll play really crap passes or something and cause us trouble. However they both also made some important tackles and interceptions aswell, as someone has already said they seemed to have trouble with the high throughballs down the middle. Sheehan I actually thought wasnt bad, his first booking was a little harsh in my eyes but he didn't seem to complain about it when it was given as if he was expecting the card. The second was silly. He was skinned on the side there which obviously led to Crewe's opener. From Joey we got the usual battling performance, Kisnorbo seemed ok from what I could see today but I didn't really notice him a great deal, I didn't have the best view of the pitch =/ Sylla seemed dreadful today, to me when he let the ball roll under his foot for a throw in that summed his game up, lack of concentration. He did win the ball back and promptly lost it again, backs out of tackles/headers doesn't seem to go for 50-50s and I didn't notice any of his trickery today. I thought Maybury seemed to have a decent game. As for Hume, easily the best player on show, 150% commitment, great skill and I thought his equaliser was fantastic considering the preasure a player is under to put the ball away when faced with a one on one situation like that, laughed my ass off when he had a mental at the linesman on our side, I think he called a dodgey offside decision, not for the first time that match either. Great player and a great character so I hope to see him playing here for a long time to come. Finally the subs, I thought Williams and Hughes looked fairly decent when they both came on, occassionally Williams looked to dither about on the ball for a bit but did well overall, looked better than Kisnorbo. De Vries did well to create a chance at the end but should definately have buried it and nabbed us the game at the end there. Hammond is better at holding the ball up, De Vries has good body strength but just looks too clumsy on the ball when he gets himself into a decent situation. I must say he didn't look to happy when he was doing his warm ups on the touchline infront of us, head down and such.

Wasn't trying to knock him just needed somethign to make me smile after us chucking away 2 more needed points

I'll speak for everyone who has been negative about Sheehan today.

We don't want him hanged for his performace today. Were simply stating the obvious, that he has a lot to learn and he didn't play well today, which is to be expected every now and again from a young player. The first booking was a ridicoulous needless handball.

What a find more disturbing then Sheehans performance is your refusal to admit he had a bad game, in fact rating him as the best defender on the pitch, on the grounds he always looked comfortable on the ball, so what if he did? he made mistakes gave the ball away and capped it with a sending off. Besides IMO he didnt even look that comfortable.

I hope next time I see him ( which hill hopefully be at least a month ) he improves, and shows some of the talent he has.
